Inspired by the huge amount of help currently being offered around the blogs to Lew with his infamous Moon Landing paper. I am sure readers will continue to be generous with their time in this worthy cause.

BTW, I do like the UEA motto. Nice detail (unless it really is 'do different', in which case I shall go for a long walk).

This from UEA's "why choose UEA" web page:

"With your academic progress being the most important element of your time at the University of East Anglia, it's an area we ensure we excel in. UEA is a research-led university, which means that your course will be based on the most up-to-date research and ground breaking developments."

I'm sure Dr Jones helps ensure they excel.

Jamesp, yes it really is their motto. Have a long walk, think about something else ;-)

Will repair Exxon spelling, thanks!

Other than the ironic use of excel, can I just say that I should bloody well hope the University does try help your academic progress. If it didn't surely it could just be called a pub...

yes it really is their motto

Aw, come on ... you must be uh ... joshing us ;-) I was getting such a chuckle each time I saw that motto ... But the truth must out, evidently:

At UEA, they don't do due diligence, they do different (not even differently!!)

Amazing. Simply amazing!

We can safely assume that, alongside Excel, at UEA they don't do Latin either

Hilary, from their website:

At UEA you can study and research across disciplines and boundaries that other Universities might not allow. When it was established, UEA adopted the motto “Do Different”, and it did this by making interdisciplinarity one of its founding themes. This is still central to what happens here. You can be part of a creative and intellectual community that is aspiring not just to do different -- but think different and be different.

Oh, Josh ... it's not that I really doubted you, not even for a moment! In fact I had found that gem on the UEA site myself and I meant to come back and apologize.

However, I was somewhat diverted (after being inspired by the Big Lewandowsky) conducting some preliminary research, formulating an hypothesis, and developing my own little survey: Does fear of CO2 cause extreme voting?

But I digress ... back to UEA ...

I cannot imagine that anyone would turn down the opportunity to be part of a "creative and intellectual community"! Is it the case, these days, that at other U.K. universities one must choose one path or the other?

Notwithstanding this noble "aspiration", evidence to date would certainly suggest that UEA's "interdisciplinarity" theme has leaned far more heavily on "creative" and very, very lightly on "intellectual", IMHO, of course. ;-)
