After splashing out $48,000 on the Blade Electron - Australia's first commercially available plug-in electric car - three years ago, Bernie had to flog it off for $8000 earlier this year after it became beset with problems that soon deemed it undrivable.
Instead of spending $48,000 on a modified Hyundai Getz that is actually slower and much less reliable than a regular Hyundai Getz (available new for less than $14,000, by the way)
And worse...
"I just wouldn't buy from a local manufacturer. I would buy a Nissan Leaf in a heartbeat.
"If I wasn't still paying off the loan I've still got for the other one.''
Worse (better?)...
Instead of buzzing battery-powered through Sydney's inner west, the ABC Science presenter's converted Hyundai Getz is on the hoists
The ABC is Australia's 'BBC', with similar leanings. As well as presenting science she was also a presenter of "ABC’s New Inventors", a show in which budding entrepreneurs would show off their inventions and be critiqued by a panel, with a final winner awarded. So, she should know about this stuff - inventions, engineering, science etc.
Ouch.
Getz worse...

Should say I do feel a bit sorry for her.
