Discussion > LIST of Green gimmick project failures.

Anyone else notice how the green religious get their projects easily approved, but they often turn out to UNSUSTAINABLE AFTER SUCKING AWAY MILLIONS IN SUBSIDIES ?

- I should say that our local chicken shit gas powerstation in Brigg from 1992 seems a sucess.

Green Turf roofs ..seem to a particular problem.
I have yet to see a successfuk one
1. The Green primary school in Totnes seems to need a £4m fix after less than 1 year,
2. The Bristol south M5 Motorway services , petrol station started leaing after less than a year
3.The Rged Discovery Centre in Penrith ..an mask on top of another expensie motorway services. The metal seems badly rusting
4. The Archaeolink centre also has a turf roof. it's bankruptcy seems to have a connection with it trying to do everything in a green religious way.

.. I note that taxpayer paid for the earthroof on the community centre in Lismore Island, but I didnt ask about problems

Meanwhile, surprise surprise. A "zero-carbon" "eco-school" seems to be an environmental disaster and a great advert for green crap. See here. The £7m "flagship new eco-school" has resulted in a £7m claim against two firms involved in the design and building of it. The rain-water harvesting system and materials (mainly wood) are believed to be the cause.

The £7m "flagship new eco-school" was intended to replace "dilapidated flood-prone" former buildings.

Classes were held in four clusters of pod-like timber-clad buildings, with electricity and hot water from solar panels.

But rainwater was reported to be running down the walls after apparent faults in the structure.

Ordering the school had been a "bold decision" by the county council, said district councillor Jacqi Hodgson.

"It's unfortunate that it had had so many problems and now it has come to this, it is really sad."

There's nothing better than seeing local councils making bold decisions with other peoples' money. It really is sad that we are led by numpties and assorted political idiots.

SandyS ..That is the Totnes school I mentioned above
note the ironical biog on the Green Party website
"District Councillor for Dartington and Totnes Town Councillor for Totnes Bridgetown
Jacqi Hodgson, a familiar Green Party face in Totnes and Dartington was elected to Totnes Town Council in 2009.
**Her passion for good planning** stems from a strong sense of fairness"
