Discussion > Bishop Hill's Top 100 Eco-Heros

Green-leaning media frequently publish an end-of-year list of their favourite environmental activists, with a short description of the reasons for choosing them, and I thought Bishop Hill should do the same thing.

To kick off, here are my two candidates:
1. Lord Deben, the government's chief climate change adviser, for comparing climate deniers to people who deny the supremacy of the Roman Catholic Church
2. Dame Vivienne Westwood, who aims to raise 100 million pounds to save the Amazon rainforest, and went to a meeting with the Peruvian Environment Minister dressed in the feathers of rare tropical birds.

Over to you.

Gee, who needs enemies when one has "friends" like Deben and Westwood.

Rajendra Pachauri who said things were going to get hot, ugly and make people sick. He proved to be correct when is first novel came out and confirmed it with his second.

Emma Thompson who joined a long line of luvvies who need to travel half way round the planet to confirm that ice melts.

The two Chrises. Professor Chris Rapley who managed to make AGW into a cure for insomnia and Professor Chris Turney for giving us a great laugh by getting stuck in ice that everyone said shouldn’t be there.

Mikey Mann who didn’t grasp that when you sue someone for accusing you of molesting the truth, it’s not the best plan to give the truth a bj in your communications with the court.

Baroness Verma for positing the theory that global temperatures could level off just because you're trying to cut CO2. No actual redution necessary. Thus proving the saying 'it's the thought that counts'.
