Discussion > Similes for Climate Science
I'm not sure what this is trying to achieve. Annoy climate scientists and beleivers in CAGW?
Isn't it likely to come across as simply being a bit silly?
Martin A. Couldn't agree more. There are a lot of people genuinely scared about climate change, scientists and civilians, why would we want to ridicule them?
@Geronimo agree
MO of the warmists is to rush to conclusions as their brains add evidence that wasn't there so add 2+2 to get 5
then they rush on to snarl and mock other PEOPLE for "being stupid" for not seeing this 2+2=5 they can see
..they wonder why this approach doesn't bring them many converts.
Martin A., I do not feel particularly obliged to respond, because the thread becomes about you rather than the subject.
I shall tell Josh to rip up his entire set of works, repent and beat himself with a larch.
BH uses hundreds of words to ridicule Climate Science. Are you saying a shorter form has no validity?
Are you saying that I need to have a paper published in a Climate Journal to refute a Professor in Climate Science? Because that is the logical extension of your comment.
This is actually a serious thread about finding short and pithy responses to people who think they have a monopoly on being right. I have no problem appearing "silly" to them.
Regard it as equivalent of the apocryphal archer at Agincourt. You can be the English Knight only engaging based on the French rules of chivalry. They warmists have no less contempt for you.
I am quite happy to be the archer and his two fingers. No less valid a response. And certainly just as effective.
Pomposity and moral superiority deserver ridicule. The point is to find similes, if people want to use them then that is up to them.
Or are you policing this thread?
Sorry, and my simile is actually scientific.
Seeing a pattern of faith in a chaotic "system"... in case you missed it. And then trying to convince everyone else that it exists. And after all the efforts, it is still just a chaotic collection dots and splashes.
Key word "chaotic"...
It is VERY scientific simile. Not "silly" I think... but a subjective judgement by the author.
Phrenology for jellyfish
Crystal balls for the blind
Crystal balls for the neutered
Entrails read by a vegetarian
Mass hysteria for introverts
A graphic novel about graphs
Is that what you're after?
On the Virgin Mary and J Pollock: the great Italian art historian Federico Zeri who had a photographic memory which conserved absolutely every painting he'd ever seen once dismissed his entire life's work with a throwaway remark to the effect that there's more intelligence in one painting by Jackson Pollock than in all the quattrocento Madonnas in Italy.
Climate science a.k.a.
"I can't believe it's not warming" science.
Throw away similes as sound-bites to ridicule Climate Science. Please this is about the Science and the Scientists, not CAGW as a whole.
Opening:
Climate Science is like seeing the Virgin Mary in a Jackson Pollock painting.
