It isn’t just the bias in the BBC that I find so irritating, it is the hyperbole. Did you know that Dewsbury is a town “reeling” from the news that two of its teenagers have bunked off to join ISIS? A more historical example was the news a few years ago of an explosion that “ripped” through Immingham refinery; it turned out that it was a junction box that went “Bang!” and caused a little smoke.
The bias of the BBC was revealed to me when Kate Adie reported on the bombing of Libya in the 1980s, as she skilfully inserted political opinion (hers? or the BBC’s? Who knows?) into her factual reports. There followed the gloating over the shenanigans of Mellor & co in the 1990s; but, while their indiscretions were of little cost to the tax-payer, Cooke’s hanky-panky post-1997 was well-funded by the tax-payer, as he cut short a state visit to India, with an early flight home to be with his paramour – this deed, however, was given what the BBC obviously considered to be a plausible excuse, as they provided it, on prime-time news!
Now, as we all know, any natural “disaster” (even if it isn’t actually a disaster) is the result of, well, you know… Any lack of extreme (itself an extreme, but let’s not go there) or benefit is either ignored or glossed over. I like to think that this is becoming more and more obvious, but such is the general dumbing down of the populace (witness some of the trolls on this site, as well as those more actively engaged “in the field” with greenpeas, FOE, anti-fracking, etc.) I do seriously wonder if my hopes are to be dashed.

and then 2 mins of science
Yet the BBC rule is that Lord Lawson who is an expert on Climate Change issues having written books about it, is not allowed to be on the same segment as a Scientist (read an eco-warrior scientist that a BBC eco-warrior stff member will already know). "No False Balance" is shouted as an excuse for no proper objectivity at all.

The biggest evidence of BBC (and other outlets) bias regarding climate is the dog that does not bark:
Practically no stories on climate consensus failures. No stories on problems with wind output vs. wind stated power rating. No stories on failed predictions of gloom. No coverage of the prominent scientists who do not support the consensus. No stories of historical averages. No stories of money and management issues within the consensus institutions. Etc.

"Seattle in Arctic drilling protest" claims the BBC on their Envi-SciFi page. A standard BBC approach. What they really meant, and indicate in the movie when you click on the story, was some people in Seattle.
The story is another green classic: A bunch of people in plastic boats, canoes etc, paddled together to complain about drilling for oil. Which is used to make their plastic canoes, paddles, waterproofs and lifesaving equipment.
The BBC hasn't noticed the irony/hypocrisy either.

BTW The BBC WS has a show Over to You of BBC listeners comments and complaints : I just listened , bizarrely they didn't mentioned how for the last 2 months they'd called the wrong result, no rather the show seemed to be about how great the coverage was ...What no one complained ?
...All the commenters they aired feared the Conservative government.

Over in Australia on ABC's Radio their climate loony leader went on a binge on 7 March 2015 (the linked ABC pages have both transcript and comments)
1. Photographs shine a light on the changing climate (..It's radio but he'll run any Climate alarmism story)

Some people use open records laws (freedom of information) to harass university scientists. (He doesn't mention Willy Soon of course cos he works for the "bad guys"

\\This morning’s ‘From Our Own (biased) Correspondent’ managed to slip in an unproven assertion that this year’s El Nino was being amplified by man-made global warming and how wonderful Detroit is now that they make bicycles there instead of cars. //(Steve Jones on BBBC)

The big problem is she misled by the way she reads stuff out as if it were a hundred percent fact, when she should include her source and quote doubt.

#2 The context is the increase in suicides. The gun deaths are mostly not the shootings of the public you might think, but MALES using it as their preferred method of suicide. (Control male suicide and gun deaths would drop)

Please read the "Shocking email leak" discussion thread where there is a more nuanced debate.
I will not be contributing here. I am fully aware of the BBC's deficiencies regarding its climate and environmental coverage. I do not believe listing them serves any purpose other than to provide fuel for those who wish the corporation harm.
Why pick on the BBC alone? Other broadcasters show similar behaviours.

Because, as is pointed out repeatedly on the other threads, the BBC is not a private company. They are a (nationally and globally) very influential public service broadcaster with a very large budget. But with that privileged position comes explicit requirements regarding impartiality etc etc. They are in flagrant breach of those requirements. I want that fixed. I think it is important. The BBC, and the BBC Trust, appears immune to reasoned arguments or complaints in this respect. It seems government action is required.
Some at the BBC would almost certainly find the appropriate medicine unpleasant. Whether that counts as me wishing the corporation harm, is irrelevant. I actually suspect that only a very few rolling heads would fix the matter. For comparison, and whilst not not wanting to express a public position on the general politics of the Middle-East/Israel/Palestine region, I note that BBC reporting on that topic seems to have become more restrained and factual in recent years. Like they are trying to play it with a straight(er) bat. Clearly someone, somewhere, has had a word. The BBC took note, and doesn't appear any more damaged than they are damaging themselves (in my eyes) with their far more naked support for the politics of global-warming. Perhaps they thought "Oh goody, here is something we can get all political about, and nobody will care." Well, some people really do care, and not in the way they fondly imagine.
