Discussion > CAGW Believers big list of Achievements

Someone just told me skeptics have not achieved anything, so I wonder if we can list CAGW Achievements

☑ 1 Control of media staffed by "progressives" (tick box)

☑ 2 Mass Brainwashing of school children (tick box)

☑ 3 Policies leading to Increases in Energy Bills leading to industry moving abroad (tick box)

☒ Realistic path to achieving CO2 reductions (nope)

stewgreen, another way of putting it would be a parody of Monty Python's Life of Brian

Reg: "All right... all right... but apart from better sanitation and medicine and education and irrigation and public health and roads and a freshwater system and baths and public order... what have the Romans done for us?"

CAGW has prevented developing countries from acheiving all the above. Developed countries have seen all the developed bits, corrupted.

They've managed to create a system that transfers loads of money from the poor to the rich. Whether it's landowners and windmills or home owners and their solar panels. All paid for by people who don't even own their own roof. Don't forget the huge donations to those who drive an electric car. It doesn't matter that it's almost always the add on for a family with more than one car already. Then there's the carbon trading schemes that the beloved of the Mafia and big business. They give solar panels to people who need proper power systems to delay them industrialising and wanting the stupid stuff we want like clean water, fridges, clean cooking. Warmists are like a back to front Robin Hood.

"Give us all your money, or the Planet catches fire" sounds a bit like a protection racket.

Have any Americans thought of invoking the RICO legislation? But doing it right?

Yep Hood-Robin (robbing the poor to give to the rich)
☑ 4 Transfer of wealth from poor to rich, due to renewables/electric car subsidies (tick box)
☑ 5 Carbon Trading corruption (tick box)
...............and
☑ 6 Fear amongst honest scientists to raise valid questions against dogma (tick box)
Like how many people must have read that 2035 Vanishing Glacier claim in the IPCC
☑ 7 Loss of trust in science ..as public witness that propaganda dominates media and challengers are banned from the airwaves (tick box)

8 Loss of trust in the Wildlife/Nature/Environmental Movement

As someone who grew up with, and has not yet lost, a love of the Natural World etc, so much good work is being lost by the abuse of the public's trust.

9) Death of Science Journalism.
Compare 1980s New Scientist with today’s fanzine.
Compare the criticism of economists, politicians and even artists with the adulation given to scientists.

If bad plays can be put on in the West End then bad science can be put in a journal. There are far lower barriers to entry.
But Journalists no longer review science.

10. Manipulation of science funding. Allied with manipulation of science priorities and docile behaviour of science regulatory bodies. (Cannot entirely be blamed on climate science).

11. Making pollution much worse by getting tax breaks for diesel cars introduced.

12. Chopping down lots of trees in the US to burn at Drax.

13. Deforestation in Asia

14. Industrialization of wilderness landscapes

According to the BBC, "Investment in renewables reached $286bn worldwide in 2015."
What wonders could have been achieved with that money?

Very good point, Colin Wernham.

And here's another achievement found by that bastion of scepticism on Green policies, the Guardian.

It seems that biodiesel requires palm oil which requires deforestation of Asia...

Well, who saw that coming. What a surprise.

M Courtney, you can make Bio Diesel on perfectly good arable land normally used to grow food. Loads do it, because of generous subsidies, especially in the USA, and so there is less surplus, and nothing to feed the starving around the world unless they can pay the inflated prices.

People starving can then be blamed on global warming.

One of the greatest achievements of the Climate Concerned is the massive cluttering of the open spaces of too much of the Western World with wind turbines that kill countless birds and bats, and disturb the wildlife the turbines are built on.

Perhaps the greatest achievement of the Climate Concerned is the emergence of a major industry based on the demands and claims of the Climate Concerned. This industry costs the world in the range of over one hundred billion US per year and produces nothing of value. It does not preserve the environment, it does not modify the climate, nor does it assist those outside of the actual industry. This industry of the Climate Concerned is a large parasite on the rest of the people of the world.
