Sadly we will be in the Parc national des Écrins for a bit, but if anyone is near Saint-Bonnet-en-Champsaur feel free to get in touch!
I will be with you in spirit friend, oops I mean beer ^.^
Salud! Or Gesundheit!

Can anyone recommend a nice sparkling wine?
I can't help but feel that after Independence Day, or Freedom Day as I like to call it, I should be supporting the global market, rather than supporting a corrupt undemocratic regime like the EU that enslaved us for over 40 years and killed tens of thousands of us with its whacky ecovoodism policy of making fuel too expensive for the plebs
Awww, imagine how devastated Roger Harrabin is. Won't someone think of the environmentalists :D
Latimer,
I'd be happy to celebrate with a quick snifter. I'm sure others would too.
We could drink some sparking wine from Cornwall. But in a post-feudal irony, that wine is grown on land "owned" (via a dubious leasing arrangement) by a well-known titled family. Originally from Germany I'm told. Oh well, business as normal.
Yes there are some fabulous English sparkling wines, such as Camel Valley in Cornwall or from Nyetimber in Sussex. Very appropriate for the occasion. The Nyetimber regularly beats that nasty foreign French Champagne stuff in blind tastings, see here for example.
Just decide on the date and if it fits I will be there. If however it's between 17th and 27th August I can't make it.
Just wondered if any of his Grace's followers could be tempted to a celebratory tincture sometime over the summer?
Venue/format/timing to be decided......
Suggestions?
