Discussion > Saturday 22 April - March for Science UK/BH contingent

Folks

It seems some excitable folks are planning a 'March for Science' in London on 22nd April.

A few of us are thinking about joining it..perhaps followed by some light refreshment and a get together in licensed premises.....

Anybody interested in joining us?

If I lived locally I would - it would be nice to meet BHers in person.

However, as a country bumpkin, I regard London as a place to be avoided at all costs. Sorry!

I don't expect ant rationalists, suppose it'll be only dramagreens/subsidy mafia/political opportunists.

stewgreen, I wish you hadn't posted that link - I feel a little unwell, having read it. I think I'll pass on attending that one as well, if it's all the same to you!

Stewgreen: please do not link to such sites. I have now felt obliged to leave the following comment:

How do you expect people to get there?

Car or public transport? Fossil-free only? If so, don’t expect too many.

Presently awaiting moderation, but do not expect to see it posted. Realism is not usually permitted in minds like those.

There is an event coming up sooner at 20.30 on Saturday 25 March and it is called Earth Hour.

In order to celebrate human ingenuity, the success of fossil fuels, capitalism and the industrial revolution in taking us out of poverty, early death and ignorance, and to stop the UK looking like North Korea from space, remember to turn all the lights on in your house for one hour from 20.30 on Saturday 25 March 2017!

Do try and hang on until 22nd April, Earth Day, which by coincidence, happens to be Lenins birthday.

Gwendolyn. That poses a real dilemma: do I turn all my lights off and get branded an eco-nut, or do I turn them all on and get mistaken for a Leninist? Flashing them on and off might be a solution, but my neighbours might think I've gone even more gaga for believing its Christmas. Your recommendations please.

GC It is always possible to participate in both. Let LEDs do their brilliant stuff!
