Forecasting is a Science not an Art
4pm-5pm Cost: £6, £4 concessions
Join Jim Bacon, from Weatherquest, for a look through 50 years of meteorological advance, driven by science. Find out how science makes forecasts more accurate and reliable, and how mathematical models simulate the way the atmosphere behaves on timescales from minutes to months and even years and decades.
You will learn about how the demands of modern business have prompted the development of new forecasting techniques, which forecast out to more than a week ahead and provide an estimate of the accuracy of the forecast and if it presents a risk to business operations.
