Gwen. Ocean Plasticification is real: the genuine article, where huge gyres of plastic bags and netting cover the ocean and other parts are contaminated with single use plastics like drinking straws and cotton buds so abhorred by EU apparatchiks. Acidification on the other hand is more debatable. In past weeks the acidification caused by Hawaiian volanic lavas contaminating the Pacific Ocean has come to light so highlighting the effect of mid oceanic ridge volcanism on corals and other innocent sea creatures. Rally the masses, stop Volcan!

Supertroll - read the RS report, read my linked journal articles, and the articles referenced by them. Read the literature reviews. Read this.

Then provide your own supporting literature. I can wait.

Well, the title makes a couple of unverifiable presumptions, yet you expect us to take it seriously?

Atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration is expected to exceed 500 parts per million and global temperatures to rise by at least 2°C by 2050 to 2100, values that significantly exceed those of at least the past 420,000 years during which most extant marine organisms evolved.
Another couple of highly questionable claims, and we haven’t got past the first sentence, yet!

Sorry, Mr Clarke, but the paper is filled with a whole raft of presumptions and assumptions, and there is no indication that what observations they are making are not just to verify what they have already concluded. While you will scoff at any claims at my authority, it is not what I would consider science, I am afraid.

Have you heard of the Sokal Hoax? An interesting paper that was carefully drafted to sound suitably authoritative, with all the appropriate buzz-words of the day, but contained not one jot of science. It passed peer-review, and its contents are still quoted as if true (the last time I saw was on The Big Bang Theory, which goes to show how far the myth has penetrated), even after being outed as a hoax.

Nothing remotely questionable there. Just a statement of well-established, bog standard mainstream science.

The Sokal paper was by a physicist who submitted a nonsensical paper on 'quantum gravity' to a 'postmodern cultural studies' journal that at the time did not practise academic peer review. Relevance to the peer-reviewed hard science literature: nil.

Phil Clarke. I have already supplied my references during a previous contratemps between use upon the topic of calcification, from which you seem to have learned absolutely nothing. Waste my time twice - nah!

"Imagine a daily show where Ronald McDonald and co were given 15 mins each day to paint a romantic picture of their world.
And that no countering voices were allowed, either in the show or indeed at ANY time on the network."

Stewgreen sounds an awful lot like Willis Eschebach celebrating a good days work as a WUWT censor.

Phil, given the rate at which Pseuds Corner has been expanding under PoMo curation , the need for Sokalist Realism has never been greater

On to Intersectional Post-Glacialism !

Gosh the woodwork spews forth anew - Foam man complaining here about denizens of WUWT. Thought you had dementia. Andrew disbaring you?

Jun 1, 2018 at 10:35 PM | Unregistered CommenterSupertroll

Russel.

I used to post at WUWT. But then, shortly after I exposed a contradiction in the reasoning of a member of the British aristocracy, my posts magically ceased being deemed publishable by the esteemed weatherman.

Weird, huh?

Oh you poor, poor person Phil; you have been sorely misinterpreted, misused and misunderstood. But don't you have other venues where you can cry out at the fates and preen in front of Russell without contaminating this one. I believe Russell strains at gnats at his own establishment - a poor imitation of Andrew's.

Not particularly weird, real trolls cause some to come out in hives.

A point that crossed the remains of my mind, too, Minty; poor Mr Clarke, ever the victim…

I, too, have contradicted others on WUWT; while I rarely do pass comment, there are times when I feel someone needs to either be corrected or challenged about what they said – sadly (for my ego) none have been from the aristocracy of any nationality, but some do seem to have been from the higher echelons of science. I can still post.

Weird, or what?
