Discussion > My thoughts on why they behave as they do
Oooh, look – another link!
Oooh, look – carefully selected videos clips by Vox…. Who knew? “They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists…” Vox implies this refers to ALL immigrants; no, it is just the illegals, specifically the “M13” group (which, I have to admit, are truly horrible people…), but – hey – they’re still immigrant victims of the POTUS aren’t they?
“The Republican Party is largely white and aging…” Let us ignore the despicable inferences in that comment and go for the simple observation that Trump’s win is NOT because he won over yet more aging whites (that ratio barely changed), but from support from the blacks (mainly women) and Hispanics, who saw which way their country was heading, and decided they did not like it. Trump’s support amongst the blacks & Latinos is growing even faster, now, thank you very much. Try watching an entire Trump speech; try watching interviews of the Trump supporters at his rallies; try watching attempted interviews with anti-Trump protesters at these same rallies (or anywhere else, really). You should get your information from the source, not some carefully selected bites to back up an opinion, even – or, especially – if you agree with it.
You berate me for using links to “opinion pieces” then do exactly the same, yet you want to be taken seriously! Ho-hum…
Facebook has a few tit-bits of information, though.
Fakebook.
The poll found, unsurprisingly, that 92 percent of blacks disapprove of President Trump, compared with 7 percent who approve of him. A whopping 84 percent of blacks think Trump is a racist, compared with 10 percent who do not.

RR. Have you read a perhaps more balanced report upon Trump and M13?

Let me know what you think.

Nothing like a bit of generic stereotyping huh?
I score about 2.5/8 :-)
Are my opinions really of any consequence? I’m afraid you flatter me, Minty.
However, I will give my opinion, anyway: this is another take-down of Trump. You would prefer he said something like: “Some people come over and do some things…”?
Oddly, much of what is printed actually backs Trump up, but they phrase so as to imply he is wrong – “Trump has previously claimed that "loopholes" prevent the deportation of unaccompanied minors. That’s Mostly False.” “Mostly False”? It is either false, or it is not; simples. Okay, so he is manipulative with the facts – but what politician isn’t? He is still on a learning curve with that one.
Trump is trying to raise the consciousness of the American people to the threat that is all around them, and is infiltrating deep into their country; many can see this, which is why his approval rating remains so high, despite the incredibly concerted efforts of the mainstream media to discredit him, mainly because he is saying things that they do not agree with; not only is he ruining the MSM’s task of educating the people on what to think, he is actually helping them learn how to think – an alien concept, for many.
Look at it this way: he will be the first US President in a long time (perhaps ever?) who will leave office considerably poorer than when he entered. As another US president has pointed out: “Show me a man that gets rich by being a politician and I will show you a crook.” (Harry S Truman) We can all think of our own examples to prove that point.
Was Jimmy Carter richer when he left office? I would be surprised if he was.
How will.we know Trump's change in wealth when he has refused (unlike all previous modern presidents) to release his tax information?
Why be surprised at my recommended read partially supporting Trump? I would not try to pass an obviously biased opinion piece over you.

Trump has the lowest average approval rating by far of any postwar president, ten points lower than Richard Nixon.

Oh, I doubt that. By precedence, US presidents have put their commercial investments into a blind trust to avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest. During the campaign Dishonest Don said he would do the same, but so far has not and retains a financial stake in over 500 Trump-branded businesses . There's considerable evidence that the presidency is being used as a marketing tool by Brand Trump - e.g. one of the first things he did when elected was double the fees at his Mar-El-Lago Palm Beach club to $200,000 a year, and Trump hotels and resorts have suddenly become favoured venues for fundraisers, lobbyist meetings and foreign delegations.
True, he nominally no longer runs the Trump Organisation, that job is now delegated to
Donald Jr. and Eric Trump. I am sure they were chosen purely as the best candidates for the role.
Of course as AK points out, we can only speculate as to whether being president will increase or decrease the net Trump worth, as the man's tax returns remain a secret.
Show me a man that gets rich by being a politician and I will show you a crook.
But what about a rich crook who becomes a politician?
Heh.
RR, Phil Clarke surely cannot believe that anyone takes him seriously?
Charly: oh, he thinks we do.
Minty: but his tax returns (or the ones demanded of him by such luminaries as Rachel Maddow) were released – to show that he has paid more tax than many of the Democrat leaders combined… which kind of took a lot of wind out of the lovely Rachel’s sails; it was funny to wacth. Odd, how that doesn’t get much of a mention of the MSM, though, isn’t it?
Nope.

Just not by him. Two pages of his 2005 return turned up in a journalist's inbox. Pretty sure this is not what Maddow 'demanded' (if she in fact demanded anything).
to show that he has paid more tax than many of the Democrat leaders combined
Given how often he boasts of his yuge business success and vast wealth, he should be paying a fair amount of tax. However the documents revealed he paid tax at a decidely un-tycoonlike rate of 25%, the equivalent rate for Hillary Clinton was 31%.
The bulk of the tax he did pay was under a measure known as 'Alternative Minimum Tax', a measure he pledged to eliminate if elected. Without AMT, his 2005 effective rate would have been just 4%.
Make My Bank Balance Great Again!

?
Huh? That's just Maddow reporting on Democrat (unsuccessful) demands for the information,
Trump's financial transparency is right up there with his approval rating.
LOL.
RR. Please reveal unto me the place that I might visit to learn about the tax information of the mighty Trump. I think you be confused, but am willing to be persuaded otherwise. The usual font of knowledge, Clipe, has remained strangely stum.
For several years I've used the term 'search' instead of 'google', but I now have a new and freshly approved* verb. It is 'gulag', or if you prefer 'goolag'.

BYJ, some believe a new variety of human is rapidly evolving. Unfortunately, though it may so, this new variety is not hardy.

Sorry, Minty. With the benefit of hindsight, I now know that I will have to keep a record of where anything I read about is, as… well, you never know…. someone might want to know where I read about it, in 3 or 4 years.

BYJ, some believe a new variety of human is rapidly evolving. Unfortunately, though it may so, this new variety is not hardy.
Unfortunately, it's not an evolution, but a recycling of the old Apollonian and Dionysian dichotomy - some people are nuts and bolts and some are wistful dreamers. Even when the Greeks came up with it, they were observing something which seems innate to the human condition.
There is a fall of Rome aspect to the current age, a rapidly spiralling out of control feeling that every fact, not matter how trsuty it has served in the past, is up for refutation. We even have out own unstable Joan d'Arc character, having visions and telling everyone about the only road to salvation. These are mad times.
Unfortunately, the Dionysians have been in charge since the 1960s, and since then we've had a society based on wishes and dreams and feelings instead of facts and pragmatism. When those dreams inevitably fail to appear, then the blame game starts. The irony of the BBC looking back at the hardy practical men of the Apollo missions was not lost on me. They were a different race.
The pendulum can only swing so far, though, and it's usually quite painful when it starts going the other way,
Hard times breed hard men; hard men bring good times.I fear that hard times are coming….
Good times breed soft men; soft men bring hard times.
