IPCC Circus - Josh 107

Some context. Over at Keith Kloor's Ray Pierrehumbert, RealClimate blog founder, left a rather rude comment ending with this about troublesome voices like McIntyre, McKittrick, and Watts.

"... big as the IPCC tent may be, I hope there will never be a place in it for any of these clowns."

Which made me conclude that Ray thinks that the IPCC is a circus and it should only be populated by approved and accredited clowns. Fair enough.

He is likeable, perhaps, on the account of his eccentricity, but he can't blame anyone else for looking clownish in that publicity photo.

He goes around calling others clown. What does he expect in return?

If he does not print out the cartoon and staple it to his office door, then I'll like him even less, eccentric or not.

To paraphrase Groucho Marx, I think the IPCC is the sort of club you wouldn't want to join if they would have you as a member.

I don't know about a circus, but even some warmists say the IPCC is corrupt. Would any reasonable individual want a place in a corrupt tent.

I think Pierrehumbert position is simply that any poor behavior, any lie , any scientific malpractice is OK as long as its done in the name of the greater good of what he and other thinks ifs the self evident through of AGW. In practice this means actions of AGW supporters are always OK , while actions of AGW skeptics are always wrong .

Oh what a marvelous cartoon!
I did try & post my response to the panhandler's comments, but they got eaten by the internet.

As much fun as a tree ring circus.

Sorry for crossposting - but can't resist posting the comment I left at KK's:-

It’s noticeable that the clowns are always “brought on” when someone runs out of arguments.

I think there should be a law like Godwin’s Law for the first person in a discussion to “bring on the clowns”.

I think we should call it “Grimaldi’s Law.

Josh

I've found you some music to go with the cartoon. It works best if you open it in another tab and then return here.

Bob Ward - at Mark Lynas's blog:

"Such wild accusations like that put you in the same camp as the clowns who
claim that all climate scientists are involved in a global plot to bring
about a Communist world government."

In all this seriousness it's great to have a little lighthearted jab at some of the more ridiculous comments percolating around the web. For a Bishop, you sure do like to play the larrikin. It's much appreciated from this antipodean, and many thanks to Josh for his continual excellence. I especially liked the duck thread earlier, derailment aside. I never got around to expounding my swan theory, and if you assume a perfectly symmetrical goosoid, it's obvious the swan has a larger impact than any other waterfowl. Regardless, best of luck through these heady times and long may you keep the spirit of mirth with you.

It's a fair warning - I shall certainly be taking special care not to annoy Josh.. :-)

Clowns are honest and caring part of our community and in the whole are an asset to the economy and well-being of our nation, comparing them to a climate scientist is highly offensive to clowns!!!
