The CPS runs a blog and there are a couple of entries on there relating to Huhne. The latest is from 5 days ago.

That must be one of the furthest travelled files in CPS history....

I am still betting he skates.

Fingers crossed.

Speaking as a life-long politically active LibDem (until fairly recently), I hope that justice is done. I hope that there is no hint of privilege and that, if he's found guilty, he gets precisely what anyone else would get. I don't hold out much hope, being the jaded cynic I've become in recent years, but I do very much hope to be surprised.

100 E-Mails, pertaining to what occured.
Numerous text messagw pertaining to what occured.
Voice mails pertaining to what occured.
Written statements (allegedly) signed By the Ex Mrs Huhne, pertaining to what occured.
Two police interviews (of Mr & Ex Mrs Huhne) pertaining to what occured.
Logistical proof that the Ex Mrs Huhne could not have been the driver.
No evidence yet that Mr Huhne was given a lift home by a third party.
No evidence yet that a third party was driving his car.

Houdini wouldnot like the odds and he could escape from anything.

The phrase slam dunk comes to mind.

Can't help feeling slightly sorry for the CPS in this case, they have been landed with the shitty end of the stick. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't. Hopefully, their Director will make the sensible decision to let this go to a public trial, rather than leave himself open to account for the result, if it doesn't.

While I hopes he pays the price, whatever it may be, he is just one spare part in use and there is a closet full of similar square pegs stuffed into round holes -- or is it the reverse?

Same ol' same ol'. The dance will go on until the government is showed the door.

A similar case in Australia, reported here http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/arts/if-only-marcus-einfeld-had-chosen-to-tell-the-truth/story-e6frg8nf-1226142909334

A supreme court judge no less trying to get off a $75 fine.

I still say they'll let Huhne off and do his wife.

I still want to know why the Times held up the whole process and then suddenly withdraws and hands over the emails etc. Must be the cynic in me I guess but it stinks of friends in the right places!

After the Climategate mails with incontrovertible evidence of wrongdoing yet followed by 'independent' whitewashes finding none (as well as lots of other whitewash inquiries eg.into the death of David Kelly and the Iraqi war etc.), and the MPs expenses scandal when Minister Jacqui Smith was allowed to sucessfully argue that her main home was in her sister's spare bedroom so she could claim on her family home, I have absolutely no faith whatsoever in the British establishment.

It will be interesting to see what possible excuses the CPS can come up with not to prosecute on any serious charges, and no I don't feel sorry for them, they are as politicised as the rest of our parasitic and bloated bureaucracy. They really do think they live by a completely different sets of rules to the rest of us.

Perhaps someone should be checking dates here. Is the evidence out of time? I seem to recall there are cut-off points, and the original offence was some years ago.. :-(

Marion - ditto

Don - we can show them the door but sadly it is a revolving one.

What are the chances of it being described as an 'honest oversight'..?
That usually gets politicians off the hook...
