Over the weekend, news emerged that the decision by French weatherman Philippe Verdier to come out as a sceptic has resulted in swift retribution.
The Head of Weather France 2, away from the antenna to its challenges to the consequences of global warming, aired Saturday night, a video claiming he was fired by the public channel.
Last year, Roy Spencer was widely criticised for referring to global warming Nazis. But as the list of those who have lost their jobs for questioning the orthodoxy grows, you have to ask yourself, was Spencer wrong?
In related news another weatherman has announced that he is not a sceptic any longer.

If the government in france wants you dismissed you will be dismissed. Sakozy had a particularly difficult interview with a TV guy, didn't like one bit and within a few weeks he was dismissed. We say démissionné
I am more surprised that journalist's union (syndicat) hasn't gone on strike to defend their freedom of speech..

there's been some disquiet expressed in comments that the video is very much a publicity stunt for his book. Note that Verdier is not sceptical about the effects of climate change, but simply critical of the green bandwagon and the government pressure to spin the weather reporting in the run up to COP21. One commenter says Verdier in his book even says the government isn't doing enough to counter global warming. More details as the story develops at

What with #NOAAgate (NOAA refusing to defend their warming adjustments to their oversight committee), with the gag on NOAA staff, with NASA repeatedly caught out with their own warming adjustments, then the surprising NASA study showing ice in Antarctic is growing and there is no evidence of warming there.
This doesn't make the French government's actions look at all good. It is a blatant political attack aimed at preventing free speech and preventing the truth coming out.

' Limbaugh-loving climate skeptic', you know how extreme these people are by the fact that Limbaugh is and has never been a 'climate skeptic ' His crime is that of a 'heretic' in that he fails to 'have faith' in a the right and unquestioning way .
In this 'the cause ' carries on the old tradition within religion, of treating those that are 'believers ' but fail the orthodoxy test worse than those that don't believe at all.
What ever it is , it certainly is not 'science' in any meaningful way .
There is a very similar tactic being played out in the parliamentary Labour Party. For years Jeremy Corbyn was tolerated by the moderates who controlled Labour, but now Corbyn is wielding the power, there is no quid pro quo - the moderates are experiencing significant hostility. The current favourite epithet is "Tory-lite" or even just "Tory" (akin to "denier") with threats of de-selection that I believe will soon turn into reality.
This is going back to the days of the ethos of robber barons, or the USSR, where if you did not obey you did not eat; the modern equivalent being loss of livelihood. Green ideology is not a religion, it is a substitute for religion. But an ideology that almost fills the God-shaped hole in us, that does not have an omnipotent God as a check on human extremes, is a very dangerous thing, and not easily defeated.

Don't you recall hearing Rush Limbaugh declare that a Journal of Geoclimatic Studies paper on ' Benthic Bacteria ' proved global warming stemmed not from CO2, but bacteria burping methane in the depths of the sea. ?
Rush's performance presented only one minor problem: there is no Journal of Geoclimatic Studies, something Spencer strove mightily to communicate .Here's the memo the long suffering climatologist posted the following day :
RE: GLOBAL WARMING STUDY HOAX
Yesterday (11/7/07), a "research study" was circulating on the internet which claimed to have found the "real" reason for global warming. Even though the hoax was quite elaborate, and the paper looked genuine, a little digging revealed that the authors, research center, and even the scientific journal the study was published in, did not exist.
I sent an e-mail to Rush about the issue regarding the hoax, with a copy of the "research study." Unfortunately...he thought that I was calling global warming a hoax, rather than the study

Like Delingpole, Rush puts a scientific foot in his atmospheric mouth on a regular basis , witnesss his effort to shred the Montreal Convention by telling millions ozone depletion stems not from freons, but an Antarctic volcano whose chlorine output he exaggerated by more than four orders of magnitude.

No: the 'hole' has shrunk , but not dissapeared beacuse long-lived CFC's persist in the stratosphere., and chlorine and bromine from natural and anthropogenic sources continues to be seasonally concentrated in the polar vortex, causing ozone depletion each polar spring.
