The UK is seen as the thick end of the wedge.

Many personal EU financial plans depend on a bunch of people regarded as thick, handing over a wedge of money.

It wouldn't take much at the moment for other EU populations to rise up, wishing to flee the tyranny of EU dictators, by eviction of the EU dictators.

She's a piece of work is Mme. Lagarde, I wonder if, she's on DSK's Christmas card list?

Hand in the till, and certainly no economist is she and yet some people seem to hang on her every word - don't they, George?


I notice she, Christine - is one of the prominent females who lent her signature, a group of French Pol-gals all riled up about alleged sexism in French politics - whoddathunked it?

Mais non!

A flutter of her eyelids, a demur pout, a flash of glossed red lips, dental work lovingly and gleamingly enhanced smile, proudly does she claim to, her womanly wiles. Remarkable, at the end of each gobfest International conference, all the great and the good ever so patiently wait for the team photo op, gentlemen gathered in ranks, on she walks,

"pardonnez moi, est-ce le temps, je ne suis pas en retard, suis je?"

sashayed gait, to take her seat right on centre stage, middle of the front bench.........you just couldn't ever miss her.

Ah, and was that some ever so faint reek of pungent hypocrisy?

And the IMF - who dey?

Dung, you are quite correct. The best way to create space within Europe for all the Middle Eastern refugees, would be to deport all EU afficianados to Syria.

This would solve two of Europe's big issues about homelessness.

The very fact that all the usual subjects, LibLabCon, Banks, the IMF etc etc want us to stay in should be enough warning that we need to get out.

Also I have yet to hear ONE positive from the "Remain" campaign about why it is to our advantage to stay.

No more UUSSR! Vote Brexit!

What no-one of a Brexit persuasion seems to be picking up on is this: David Cameron states EVERY TIME he speaks, that we should stay in a 'REFORMED' EU.....

The Martin Durkin film is fantastic and like you, I'd recommend everyone put an hour aside to watch it.

I'm not from the UK but how any UK voter would want to stay in the EU is beyond me , except those that have an obvious vested interest.

Also I think the parallels of the politics surrounding the EU membership and the AGW/IPCC politics are stricking.

In other words, a bunch of unaccountable supranational organisations of questionable utility are urging the UK not to quit another unaccountable supranational organisation of questionable utility.

You really should make more effort to keep up with the news. The EU has already been reformed. Haven't you heard about the triumphal conclusion to David Cameron's renegotiation of our relationship with the EU?

When the referendum takes place I hope the British electorate will show David Cameron the exact amount of gratitude that his efforts on our behalf deserve!

Roy - thank you so much for pointing out my poor grasp of current news.

I forgot the impressive list of concessions (or, as Boris colourfully decribed them - 'two-thirds of diddley squat'...) which David Cameron wrestled from the bureaucrats in Brussells - none of which will be ratified (or not) by the European Parliament until after the EU Referendum...

I must make more of an effort to keep up....

Madame Lagarde has a small cameo role in the excellent film Too Big to Fail, when her character berates Hank Paulson for letting Lehman go to the wall. Tells you a lot about her morality.

This is followed by list of 26 serious grievances - serious enough that armed conflict had erupted around Boston. I'll follow the other links to see how the reasoning compares.

Remarkable that the US constitution was taken from what was then our own constitution, by taking those rights away from us, government over many, many years in the UK has indeed given us the right to cast off the EU and those who put us there.

it is the undeniable right of any climate scientist to deny the rights of anyone else to deny the truth of any word they say.

Before Mann fabricated his Holy Hockey Stick, the climate was flat and calm. The turmoil was started when man invented fire, and learned how to barbecue the largest herbivorous dinosaurs. The climate has been disturbed ever since, by surplus heat, and excessive clouds of toxic wind. That is the truth, and don't try to deny it.

Declining by 42 billion Sterling.

( if you observe the 10 year chart the current dip looks very like the Spring 2008 event)

The banking system is most likely engineering a domestic UK "liquidity event" so as to achieve a political objective.

The only effective resistance of bank social and economic experiments have been agrarians who in extremis can live off the land without money.

I am afraid those days are long gone for most....especially in densely populated urban UK.

Ireland is the canary in the scarcity mine as it in the nexus between the Anglo and Euro pits of despair.

The IEA energy data is showing very confusing and dramatic energy consumption metrics in Ireland.

Nat gas consumption has declined by a gigantic 30% ( relative to the same period last year) in the peak consumption months of Jan and Feb yet electricity production is at a all time high during the same period!!!
This is not really as a result of renewables.
Fossil fuel consumption is up 20% in the electricity sector! during Jan and Feb.
(fossil fuel use forms 70% of total Irish electricity production in this period )

For these statistics to make sense Moneypoint coal station and the couple of peat stations must be running 24 / 7 with most of the gas stations running idle.
To provide context the gas electric power plant capacity in Ireland is perhaps the biggest % of total in Europe
Source IEA monthly gas and electricity reports for the months Jan and Feb.

Can the energy matters website explain these weird figures.
I have my doubts.
The energy sector in Ireland is a black hole of information.
A highly secretive cabal of cooperating monopolies.
