Discussion > President Trump

Lt. Gen Flynn is already a conservative hero, and a national hero.

The Biden-Ukraine angle is heating up.

The targeting of Flynn in such an energetic fashion is really curious. Why would the outgoing administration take all these risks after the election ?

There's more to this than bent judges - that simply reflects the pressure being applied - who's doing that?

What is it about Flynn that has got them so worked up? Flynn apparently talked with the Israelis - that's guaranteed to get Mr & Mrs Obamah agitated

It seems that although Flynn met with assorted senior spooks he was independent minded and seems to have had a penchant for independent research and analysis and not much of a man to work the old boy networks. The usual suspects like to portray Trump as arbitrary, selfish and oftentimes perverse - but quite a few of his picks for various jobs have been sunk / pressured out of jobs away from the limelight by the Washington mafia.

It's a lot milder than the Flynn thing but I've been looking at Rob Spalding another career military man who seems to have been effectively been hounded out of a specialist National Security job by vested interests (with Chinese connections) - Spalding has some well founded and evidenced (imho) reservations about allowing the Chinese Communist Party to provision the USA's 5G network fabric - the Chinese have been on a buying spree of lobbyists and politically connected 'Merikans.

Rice and China.
She was sent to suck up to China. Criticism of China was minimal. Nothing happened over Copyright infringements, North Korea etc under Obama.
Flynn had worked for Obama, and warned that China was the threat, NOT Russia. He was relieved of his duties.
Obama/Rice/Comey(?) +others still saw China as an asset, but Russia still as a threat.
Obama expelled some Russian Diplomats (quite possibly justified) before changeover. Russia DID NOT retaliate, as Trump via Flynn had the phone chat seeking no tit-for-tat expulsions prior to Trump taking charge. That was the phonecall intercepted.

Commissioning the Steele Dossier proved that Democrats had determined that Trump was too close to Russian contacts and was vulnerable. Steele delivered what was paid for.

History proves that Flynn was completely correct about China, and even before Coronavirus, Trump had been confrontational with China and started to get results.

Democrat Chinese collusion? Worth a punt.

in his last months, Obama had started to reduce US support for Israel. This had encouraged the ambitions of some others in the Middle East. Trump reversed this Obama policy.

It would be reasonable to assume that others from Team Trump had spoken to the Israelis and suggested that they did not respond to threats, and may be even spoke to some Moslems to pass the message around that they should not get ideas about Israel.

We do not know whether any of these chats happened or were recorded.

Now Rice is back in the frame, Biden is running out of options in his search for some safe female to be his VP running mate.

The Democrat MSM have to keep denying, as they stand to lose their jobs too.

Column: Before November, America must know more about the Obama White House and its Trump-Russia probe

There were lies supporting the now-discredited Steele dossier paid for by the Clinton campaign; and lies to the FISA courts; and the Obama administration’s political unmasking of Trump’s first national security adviser, Michael Flynn.

Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his conversation with a Russian diplomat. His champions say he was pressured by federal threats against his son. Barr dropped the case and called it a trap. There were a series of serious prosecution errors, including an FBI official wondering in a case file if agents were questioning Flynn to “get him to lie, so we can prosecute him, or get him fired.”

The letter that tries to justify was written by:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kathryn_Ruemmler
"Kathryn "Kathy" Ruemmler (born April 19, 1971) is an attorney who formerly served as White House Counsel to President Barack Obama. She previously worked as Principal Deputy White House Counsel.[1] She is a partner at Latham and Watkins and co-chairs its white-collar defense group[2] and will join *Goldman Sachs as its Global Head of Regulatory Affairs* in April 2020.[3]"

The rest of the entry places Ruemmler quite close to key decisions by key players at key moments during Obama's terms.

The Obamah administration's antics wrt intelligence assets (mass surveillance, covert smear operations and simple faking it etcetera ) were so pervasive that even low rank dopes had the free run of snooping, placing fake news and contriving to do down any political challenges. The sheer scale of the STASI task wasn't clear to them as they gorged on juicy morsels and now it seems that that's going to 180 and bite them on the ass as they let idiots roam free with power tools.

It's not getting any play at the moment - but the releasing of ham-fisted fake documents wrt to BHO's public records indicates something of the arrogance of the players. A purported simple scan of a birth certificate that has multiple layers ... yeah ... that's what we're looking at.

As a result of 9/11 and The War on Terror all Governments increased the ability to spy and conduct surveillance, overt and covert on anybody, especially those within state boundaries.

The UK has more CCTV Cameras per person/sq mile than anywhere else, and there has never been a civil liberties outrage.
Yes, i accept they have been a great asset for crimebusting, so criminals have redirected some of their activities to areas without CCTV.

I suspect that those "UK is the most surveilled CCTV country" things are a media myth to coax towards a talking point. Just in one minor county town the CCTV hasn't been maintained for several years. In my experience China city centres have an extraordinary amount of CCTV compared to the UK. Crimebusting is one thing - handing out Covid tickets to rough sleepers and ignoring organised sex gangs assaulting kids - well go figure.

The 9/11 War on Terror surveillance hasn't I suspect been particularly effective since serious nasties are well aware of it and side step it - it has enabled some other antics though - and the UK's present and proposed legislation opens up digital prying to bad actors on local councils and the like. = see Obamah's targeting of TEA Party activists via the IRS and the subsequent pleading of the 5th Amendment by his appointee......

Coronavirus has taught us how well we can be tracked by our own mobile phones, get government messages, and be told how well we have not isolated and who with. The kit all comes from China and they are getting a Government Contract controlling our security.

Trump warned BoJo about China. Flynn warned Obama and Rice about China.

You have warned about China, and so have I!

I think that FBI DOJ arrests could be imminent. You never know, their phones may have been bugged to see who else they talk to, they could hardly complain.

This hasn't aged well considering what's going on in the UK and Canada.

Media Hoar. I also lived and worked in the US and often visited after I had left. I originally had great respect for most Americans, but that suffered a sharp blow shortly after 9-11. My view was that most Americans were independent minded, perhaps overly proud of their nation and its governance (or the Constitution) and wouldn't put up with any nonsense from their politicians - federal, state or local. Petty interferences with their lives would be vigorously opposed.

Shortly after 9-11 I visited universities that had student exchange relations with UEA and had a 17stop ticket. This was sufficiently unusual that at each airport I was marked out for special treatment, especially at boarding gates. I therefore observed the tactics used on American citizens and simply could not believe that they and onlookers stood for it. I saw a man in calipers forced to stand with his legs spread (it must have been agony) and no one said anything. An old woman in a wheelchair was made to stand and shuffle towards a guard, and she, people with her and onlookers didn't raise a murmur of protest. I couldn't believe it. The people I would have expected to support the weak and powerless, did sweet FA.
Nothing now suprises me about what ordinary Americans will tolerate. I started to understand how cultured Germany came to accept Nazism. I'm now much less certain that the checks and balances of the American constitution could withstand full blown Trumpism.

Clips. Even though this might be in the wrong thread, perhaps you might explain your meaning and the relevance of bringing up a 2017 post written by me. I still stand by the majority of what I wrote then - I was surprised immediately after 9-11 at how much the ordinary travelling American would tolerate, and even more would tolerate being applied to the weak by, essentially newly appointed thugs given licence to abuse their position.

Worth noting this from Aug 15 2018
https://www.boston.com/news/politics/2018/08/15/after-brennan-9-others-face-losing-security-clearances-too

"August 15, 2018
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Wednesday acted on a threat and revoked the security clearance of former CIA Director John Brennan, citing a constitutional responsibility to protect classified information. Brennan, who served in the Obama administration, had retained his security clearance, as is custom, but had also become an increasingly sharp critic of Trump’s.

Trump says he is reviewing security clearances for nine other individuals: James Clapper, James Comey, Michael Hayden, Sally Yates, Susan Rice, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page and Bruce Ohr. Some have been publicly critical of the president, while others are linked to special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian election interference."
