Discussion > President Trump

Jan 26, 2018 at 8:33 AM | tomo

The Dutch story may simply be proof that the Russian hackers were instructed to hack into US Democrats/ US Government/ White House etc, because the Russians also assumed that Clinton would follow Obama.

The Russians didn't believe Trump would win either.

http://thehill.com/policy/national-security/370801-trump-poised-for-clash-with-doj-over-classified-memo

"The precise contents of the memo remain unknown, but it is believed to contain allegations that the FBI did not adequately explain to a clandestine court that some of the information it used in a surveillance warrant application for Trump adviser Carter Page was opposition research funded by the Clinton campaign, now known as the “Steele dossier.”"

"Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants are highly classified — even the existence of a given warrant is classified — and Boyd in his letter warned Nunes that the reported allegations in the memo would be based on information that “neither you nor most of [the committee have] seen.” "

"The Justice Department, which has not been allowed to see the memo, expressed concerns common to the exposure of any classified information: that its public release will damage ongoing investigations and harm national security by burning sources and laying bare intelligence community capabilities."

"According to Gowdy, who helped draft the memo, “everything” in it is based on documents provided to the committee by the FBI. "

Ben Rhodes - an Obamah foreign policy advisor

I remember when we had a President who cared about working people and wasn't an out of touch rich guy who travelled to Davos to seek the acceptance of a bunch of global elites.

I suppose he didn't say "rich white guy"... meanwhile Rachael Maddow an MSNBC anchorette lists all the Russian agents that Trump might meet at Davos - what a pitiful clown show....

Meanwhile the UK's Shadow Chancellor ensconced in an £800 a night undoubtedly taxpayer funded hotel reveals to the assembled great and good that Venezuela failed because it's "not socialist enough"

tomo, following your links took me here:
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-01-27/clinton-podesta-and-others-senate-crosshairs-over-dossier-given-two-weeks-respond

and this includes the list of people that may have been corresponded with. The list includes Sir Andrew Wood, as The Guardian had confirmed a year ago.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/jan/13/trump-dossier-uk-ambassador-moscow-john-mccain-andrew-wood
Sir Andrew Wood, former UK-Moscow ambassador, consulted on Trump dossier
Sir Andrew Wood told US senator that Christopher Steele’s report ‘might be true, might be untrue’ but that author was credible.

I don't know the Legal status/obligations of the Senate Letter, but I am sure John Podesta should be able to give answers to keep Lawyers busy.

Jan 28, 2018 at 1:09 PM | Unregistered CommenterPhil Clarke

Phil Clarke, have you lost interest in calling people liars, now that you realise where the lies have been coming from? John Podesta now has to reveal some of his correspondence. He seems to have been closely associated with preserving the reputations of the Clintons

"John David Podesta (born January 8, 1949) is an American political consultant who served as White House Chief of Staff to President Bill Clinton from October 20, 1998 until January 20, 2001 and as Counselor to President Barack Obama from January 1, 2014 until February 13, 2015. Before that he served as the White House Staff Secretary and White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations for the Clinton Administration between January 20, 1993 until October 20, 1998."
"He is the former president, and now Chair and Counselor, of the Center for American Progress (CAP), a think tank in Washington, D.C., as well as a Visiting Professor of Law at the Georgetown University Law Center and was chairman of the 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential campaign.[1][2]Additionally, he was a co-chairman of the Obama-Biden Transition Project."

The Centre for American Progress has been closely associated with Climate Science and George Soros
https://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/Center_for_American_Progress

"The Center for American Progress is classified as a 501(c)(3) organization under U.S. Internal Revenue Code. The institute receives approximately $25 million per year in funding from a variety of sources, including individuals, foundations, and corporations. From 2003 to 2007, the center received about $15 million in grants from 58 foundations. Major individual donors include George Soros, Peter Lewis, Steve Bing, and Herbert M. Sandler. The Center receives undisclosed sums from corporate donors.[5]"

US Democrats are now wondering how they were persuaded that Clinton was their chosen Candidate, whilst George Soros can't see how he damaged the EU.

They all thought Climate Science was popular.

Hmmm.....

Interview with a Judicial watch investigator - who worked for Bill Clinton on the Lewinski case...

Looked like Sir Andrew Wood (15:23) is sucked into the Steele dossier thing as a gopher / bag boy touting the Steele dossier around Republicans opposed to Trump's candidacy.

Jan 28, 2018 at 6:28 PM | Registered Commentertomo

tomo,
according to The Independent and BBC Radio 4 (Jan 2017?):
"Wood said he did not have the dossier but that McCain obtained it from his own sources. It was written by former British MI6 agent Christopher Steele and handed to the director of the FBI, James Comey."

But ......
http://theatheistconservative.com/tag/sir-andrew-wood/
"The Conspiracy of the Golden Shower 1

In the beginning of the conspiracy was the dossier.

Yes, it was a conspiracy, and yes, it did begin with the dossier. Then came the tossing about of the dossier. A transparently fictitious and in places childishly silly dossier.

Mark Steyn keeps his eye on the dossier. Here is the greater part of his summing-up of the Clinton anti-Trump campaign:

It started in April 2016, when it became clear that Trump was going to win the Republican nomination. The Hillary campaign and the DNC gave millions of dollars to Marc Elias, a Clinton lawyer, who in turn hired Fusion GPS, who in turn hired former MI6 agent Christopher Steele. Why use Mr Elias as a cutout? Because Hillary and the DNC could then itemize the expense as “legal services” rather than list payments to Mr Steele, which would be in breach of federal law."

I wonder if Sir Andrew Wood believes in Climate Science and the EU, or was there a less sinister motive? Senator John McCain does:

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2017/may/30/john-mccain-urges-action-on-great-barrier-reef-and-paris-climate-deal

"The death of the Great Barrier Reef is one of the “great tragedies of our lives”, US senator John McCain has said, arguing America should uphold its commitment to the Paris climate agreement, or accede to it with minor modifications."

"Speaking in Sydney on Tuesday night, the veteran politician and former Republican party presidential candidate said climate change was undeniably real and that it was incumbent upon world leaders to act now to halt and reverse global warming."

“I think that climate change is real. I think that one of the great tragedies of our lives is the Great Barrier Reef dying [and] the environmental consequences of that,” he said.

Politicians in the US UK EU AUS etc are starting to learn how toxic Climate Science really is.

Interesting that May's government D Noticed Steele's dossier involvement in UK press - when he was acting in a "private business capacity" for Orbis Business Intelligence and not as Russia desk chief at MI6 ... I've always understood that few spooks actually leave the business.

“My mission was essentially to be a go-between and a messenger, to tell the senator and assistants that such a dossier existed,” Sir Andrew Wood told Fox News in an exclusive interview with senior executive producer Pamela K. Browne.

Andrew Wood was also involved in the malarkey around BP's dealings in Russia which would make anything claimed about Trump look pretty lame....

Steele and his fellow MI6 business partner apparently worked on the golden shower dossier without payment according to The Independent. Pretty stupid of him considering how much his chums at Fusion GPS were being paid at the time.

“If you think your viewers want to know whether or not the dossier was used in court proceedings, whether or not it was vetted before it was used, whether or not it’s ever been vetted — if you are interested in who paid for the dossier, if you are interested in Christopher Steele’s relationship with Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee, then, yes, you will want the memo to come out,”

tomo, Governments can't afford their Spooks and former Spooks to become disloyal. Peter Wright and Spycatcher?

In the videos etc linked to above, FBI Field Agents are exonerated from blame. The FBI has a problem in Head Office, rather than rogue agents.

Steele cannot expect any public display of loyalty from his former UK Employers, and he may not have committed a criminal offence.

Sir Andrew Wood may have been asked to have a "quiet word" with a few key people in the USA, believing he was acting in the interests of the UK, and on behalf of Her Majesty's Government. He was then pushed in front of the UK media, Jan 2017 as the innocent fall guy, who could then retire back into the shadows.

John McCain, a senior Republican, could lead the split against Trump from within his own Party, again believing he was acting in the best interests of his Country.

Could be a multi award winner: Readings from "Fire and Fury" by our beloved Hillary at the Grammys. Perfection!

Jan 29, 2018 at 9:44 AM | Unregistered CommenterSupertroll

Supertroll, John Podesta's autobiography concerning how he regularly got the Clinton's back on their feet, would be far more interesting.

The longer that St Hillary keeps turning up as a celebrity envelope opener, the longer it will take for the Democrats to present themselves as "New and Improved". The Clinton Legacy is staining Obama's, and the Democrats need untarnished Candidates for the next White House race.

St Hillary remains selfish and ambitious. What is she now hoping to achieve?

Trump continues to show considerable restraint for someone used to shooting from the hip.

Supertroll, perhaps he has! There have been a lot of people firing at him, including those on the Government payroll.

"President Donald Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump, Jr., said Sunday that he is betting the Democratic response to the much talked about House intelligence memo will leak to the media before the actual memo is made public."

"I just bet a friend $100 that Schiff’s (fake try to get ahead of the bad for them narrative) memo “leaks” to the media before we see the real memo," Trump Jr. wrote on Twitter. "Media will be complicit in helping obviously. #ReleaseTheMemo"

St Hillary is used to reciting works of fiction in public. She may have plenty more opportunities, and could be judged on future performances, along with some of her most loyal acquaintances.

US Marshalls quite like singing competitions, especially if the FBI are included in the line-up.

I didn't smile ironically - just a minor dose of incredulity in this case as in - what on earth did she hope to achieve?

In terms of where the FISA memo is in process - attacking Trump like that isn't going to help - the gears are grinding and it's still not a done deal that the memo and a selection of the supporting documents will be released - but if anything I'd say on balance that it's provocation that she cannot afford at the moment - but we'll see....

HRC seems to be hugely confident of her own invulnerability, just as she was hugely confident that she'd win the election.
