A "professional hit" is normally (?) carried out as revenge for something done or said, or to prevent something being done or said, or as a warning to others to show that they are not untouchable.
Presumably Mark Urban will have assisted Police with their inquiries, and his current employers must be aware of some reason for his interest. It is indeed curious, and a link to the Steele Dodgy Dossier would be something Urban's employers, both past and present, would not want raised in the USA, where respect for UK "D" Notices might not be shown.
Wikipedia has an entry for Skipal. Possible connections are made, and the references are interesting.
The timing of the "hit" may have been linked to events in other countries, it may have been that an opportunity to hit both father and daughter at the same time, on foreign soil presented itself. The use of a perfume bottle could have been to bring the toxin in through Customs. Not necessary if it came into the UK within a Diplomatic Bag.

Historically afaics when Russian spooks bump off enemies - they are efficient and there are corpses - and a clear message.
Steele's connections are known in the USA - but don't expect CNN, MSNBC etcetera to actually mention them.
Wiltshire Police have splurged purportedly £10 million thus far on the Novichok business. That must include dozens of hours of police helicopter time orbiting Salisbury town centre seemingly endlessly over the last couple of months.
I think Murray is simply accusing Urban of having two jobs by inference.

Yes it is. Means and method all point at Russians, and that was inevitable when the attack was planned. So what was the motive if it was inevitable that fingers would point at THE Russians, ie Putin/Kremlin? The same applies to Litvienenko.
Slow lingering deaths get more publicity, and the cause was identifiable. Go back to the assassination of Georgi Markov with a custom made Bulgarian umberella, I don't think anyone was supposed to work out the method.
The Mark Urban meeting could be a coincidence, but linked to other dodgy dealings. Alternatively, it could have triggered the whole operation, which leads back to Motive, Timing, and whether Skripal was the target, or his daughter, or both.

ST - I'm sure Californian Democrats will do whatever they can to damage a notionally Republican POTUS. I only offered the suggestion as I'd seen it elsewhere.
Presently though TDS and McCain will keep the baying/howling press busy .... what's quite jarring is that much of the press now drooling eulogies for McCain subjected him to the same tactics as have been used aginst DJT for over two years.
I gather that "Democrats for Trump" is actually a thing ..... rather than a spoof - which is quite weird....
