Discussion > General Election 2017 ?
May can write her manifesto, confident that there will be no credible Opposition, as Len McCluskey is re-elected to Unite, and Chief Paymaster of the Labour Party. FIVE more years of Corbyn?
May has confirmed the Foreign Aid Budget remains unchanged, BUT more control of how the money is spent, will be implemented. Cutting out all Green Blob lobbying inside and outside the UK would be a start.
And there is always the BBC :) :
TheConservativeWoman:
David Keighley’s BBC Watch: This election is a battle between the Tories and the broadcasters
There NEEDS to be opposition, May is now showing her true character and it is not pretty. All within 24 hours May and Hammond announced higher taxation, an end to the pensions lock and keeping the overseas aid budget at 0.7% of GDP and they believe May is now worshipped so much that the public will wear it and like it. I do not think her own party will wear it let alone the public. Where is Farage when you need him?
Dung, all is not lost for Her Majesty's Opposition, it could be led by the SNP, campaigning for EU Money to get HS2 extended to Glasgow.
Or, Corbyn might step down, to make way for Len McCluskey's chosen successor, Diane Abbott? Emily Thornberry? Or even Karie Murphy who has to find somewhere to sit first.
Golf Charlie
These are not Conservative policies, they are policies designed to give May a firm grip on power. I have been a lifelong tory supporter but Cameron changed that as a liberal left Tory Prime Minister. Now May is trying to be all things to all people just to stay in power and without explaining her future plans, it stinks.
Dung, the Conservatives had a workable majority in the House of Commons. It was not a majority that would have survived a "No Confidence" vote, in the event of an issue causing a Tory Rebel faction to align with the Opposition. Cameron was compromised by his pact with the Liberals.
May was always going to face criticism for not being elected as Prime Minister, and for representing the UK in BREXIT negotiations, having been a Remainer. She now has Corbyn and McCluskey helping to deliver a substantial majority, and lead the Opposition beyond BREXIT.
Nobody knows exactly how BREXIT will develop, but May having sufficient confidence in her UK support and Political backing, should place her in a strong position to negotiate. The EU's self confidence is PROBABLY going to take further setbacks over the next 2 years.
It is sensible for May to make some realistic compromises now, rather than concede in the future to UK and/or EU pressure. The chances of 100% of people registering 100% satisfaction, 100% of the time, reduces, the better the Democratic system is.
Time and history may tell another story, and I did not anticipate May being Cameron's replacement, but so far, May has compromised and appeased sufficiently to keep her job, and get it done well.
My big concern is all the unwanted UK bureaucrats working abroad in EU dependent jobs, that may be returned to drain the UK economy.
French General Election
The French have rejected traditional Left and Right, and opted for Centrist or Far Right. The Traditional Left and Right are now saying vote Centrist, to block Le Pen.
A vote for Le Pen is going to mean a vote for FREXIT. Even if she does not win, the extent of French unrest with the EU will be recorded.
This should not strengthen the EU's confidence, but their track record of listening to EU Citizens is not good.
Meanwhile, on the BBC News, a comment was made about the difference between Patriots and Nationalists in France. The Progressive BBC has always labelled Patriotism as being the same as Nationalism in England, which may be why Emily Thornberry considered a St George's Flag had no right to appear in England
Here is something I found on Farceberk (name of originator redacted):
The essence of the Kalergi plan France will be finished
In his book «Praktischer Idealismus», Kalergi indicates that the residents of the future "United States of Europe" will not be the People of the Old Continent, but a kind of sub-humans, products of miscegenation. He clearly states that the peoples of Europe should interbreed with Asians and colored races, thus creating a multinational flock with no quality and easily controlled by the ruling elite.
Kalergi proclaims the abolition of the right of self-determination and then the elimination of nations with the use of ethnic separatist movements and mass migration. In order for Europe to be controlled by an elite, he wants to turn people into one homogeneous mixed breed of Blacks, Whites and Asians. Who is is this elite however? Kalergi is particularly illuminating on this:
The man of the future will be of mixed race. The races and classes of today will gradually disappear due to the elimination of space, time, and prejudice. The Eurasian-negroid race of the future, similar in appearance to the Ancient Egyptians, will replace the diversity of peoples and the diversity of individuals. Instead of destroying European Judaism, Europe, against her will, refined and educated this people, driving them to their future status as a leading nation through this artificial evolutionary process. It's not surprising that the people that escaped from the Ghetto-Prison, became the spiritual nobility of Europe. Thus, the compassionate care given by Europe created a new breed of aristocrats. This happened when the European feudal aristocracy crashed because of the emancipation of the Jews [due to the actions taken by the French Revolution]
Although no textbook mentions Kalergi, his ideas are the guiding principles of the European Union. The belief that the peoples of Europe should be mixed with Africans and Asians, to destroy our identity and create a single mestizo race, is the basis of all community policies that aim to protect minorities. Not for humanitarian reasons, but because of the directives issued by the ruthless Regime that machinates the greatest genocide in history. The Coudenhove-Kalergi European Prize is awarded every two years to Europeans who have excelled in promoting this criminal plan. Among those awarded with such a prize are Angela Merkel and Herman Van Rompuy.
The incitement to genocide, is also the basis of the constant appeals of the United Nations, that demands we accept millions of immigrants to help with the low birth rates of the EU. According to a report published on January 2000 in «Population division» Review of the United Nations in New York, under the title "Immigration replacement: A solution to declining and aging population," Europe will need by 2025 159,000,000 migrants.
One could wonder how there can be such accuracy on the estimates of immigration, although it was not a premeditated plan. It is certain that the low birth rate could easily be reversed with appropriate measures to support families. It is just as clear that it is the contribution of foreign genes do not protect our genetic heritage, but that it enables their disappearance. The sole purpose of these measures is to completely distort our people, to turn them into a group of people without national, historical and cultural cohesion. In short, the policies of the Kalergi plan was and still is, the basis of official government policies aimed at genocide of the Peoples of Europe, through mass immigration. G. Brock Chisholm, former director of the World Health Organization (OMS), proves that he has learned the lesson of Kalergi well when he says: "What people in all places have to do is to limit of birthrates and promote mixed marriages (between different races), this aims to create a single race in a world which will be directed by a central authority. "
Conclusions
If we look around us, the Kalergi plan seems to be fully realized. We face Europe's fusion with the Third World. The plague of interracial marriage produces each year thousands of young people of mixed race: "The children of Kalergi». Under the dual pressures of misinformation and humanitarian stupefaction, promoted by the MSM, the Europeans are being taught to renounce their origin, to renounce their national identity.
The servants of globalization are trying to convince us that to deny our identity, is a progressive and humanitarian act, that "racism" is wrong, because they want us all to be blind consumers. It is necessary, now more than ever, to counter the lies of the System, to awaken the revolutionary spirit of the Europeans. Every one must see this truth, that European Integration amounts to genocide. We have no other option, the alternative is national suicide.
Translator's note: Although the reasons due to which Kalergi made the choices he made are of no particular interest to us, we will try to answer a question that will surely our readers have already asked: Why a European aristocrat with Flemish, Polish, Greek-Byzantine roots and even with some samurai blood in his veins (from his mother) was such body plans and organ in the hands of dark forces? The reasons, in our opinion, are multiple, idiosyncratic, psychological and ... women.
We therefore observe a personality with strong snobbish attitudes, arrogance, and, allow me the term, "degenerate elitism." Also, the fact that his mother was Asian, perhaps created internal conflicts and frustrations, something that can happen to people with such temperament. But the most decisive factor must have been the "proper teenager", which incidentally of course, was beside him, and became his first woman (at age 13): The Jewess Ida Roland, who would later become a famous actress.
EUROPEAN COUNCIL
The Coudenhove-Kalergi Prize goes to President Van Rompuy
On November 16th 2012, the President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, was awarded the Coudenhove-Kalergi Prize, during a special conference in Vienna, to celebrate the 90 years of the pan-European movement. The prize is awarded every two years to leading personalities for their outstanding contribution to the process of European integration.
A decisive factor that helped him win the prize was the balanced way in which President Van Rompuy executed his duties in the new position of President of the European Council, which was established by the Treaty of Lisbon. He handled this particularly sensitive leading and coordinating role with a spirit of determination and reconciliation, while emphasis was also given to his skilful arbitration on European affairs and unfailing commitment to European moral values.
During his speech, Mr Van Rompuy described the unification of Europe as a peace project. This idea, which was also the objective of the work of Coudenhove-Kalergi, after 90 years is still important. The award bears the name of Count Richard Nicolaus von Coudenhove-Kalergi (1894-1972), philosopher, diplomat, publisher and founder of the Pan-European Movement (1923). Coudenhove-Kalergi was the pioneer of European integration and popularized the idea of a federal Europe with his work.
Among the winners of the award, the Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel (2010) and the President of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga (2006), are included

It does seem reminiscent of previous compulsory selective breeding programmes designed to create a master race.
Who will decide the ethinc mix of the panel to select the experts, capable of determining "suitability for breeding purposes"?
The possibility of sperm shopping over the internet, opens up many possibilities (not all of them hygienic) and would offer the LGBT communities greater chances of equality, but I am unclear why Merkel and Van Rompuy have been rewarded to stimulate fertility, and desirability of the concept.

Meanwhile a Democrat thoroughbred with a mixed record is imported from the USofA by Mrs May's crew to run the GE campaign for her....
What could possibly go wrong?
Talking about imports - I'm seeing suggestions that Mr. Soros is cranking up an attempt to tinker with the upcoming election via "Open Britain" operations - anybody seen more detail?
Europe has not yet learned to be multi-cultural.

"May has gambled on a General Election, in order to undermine ALL her Remaining Critics, and write her own mandate."
It's been a few days since your post, so I thought that I would reevaluate it, in light of the more recent news and using the extra thinking time that has passed.
I think that is stating the situation very narrowly because it does not list all the forces and arguments against her wish to get Britain the best deal ever (hoping that is still her objective :) and that her idea of 'best deal' is similar to mine!). We need to pile up the points that our opponents would throw at us and then say, 'that is why she need to strengthen, while she can'. Some of the points may be uncomfortable, but they exist, even though most are products from people from the past. The points include:
1. She became PM without a vote by the British public, so while the public may agree with her, they have not been involved: that is poor strategy.
2. She became PM without a final vote by her party, so while the party (outside Parliament) may agree with her, they have not been involved: that is poor strategy as they will be delivering the leaflets etc.
3. Many have pointed out that the last Tory manifesto wanted the Single Market (I can't remember the exact wording) so yet more going over old ground.
4. The referendum only asked about the EU, not the SM etc. (I am not agreeing at all, but just that it has been said, repeatedly)
5. The Brexiters promised things they couldn't deliver (because it was a Referendum, not a General Election with parties entering Government with a manifesto: set up by Remainers, but still true)
6. Theresa May's objectives are not in the current Tory manifesto, so her party's MPs are on a free reign and may have been openly Remainers during the last GE.
7. Theresa May's objectives are not in the current Tory manifesto, so the Lords, Civil Service, etc, are on a free reign
8. The preponderance of Tory Remainer MPs were united under the last Tory PM (I forget his name and nearly forgot he wasn't a Tory!) and a GE would change their hearts as only a GE can
We then have the escalating issues (good and bad):
9.Before Brexit was in a manifesto, the EU promised negotiations in good faith but they are getting more aggressive and vindictive by the day. It looks like it will only get worse, with traps laid, (like Heath's fishing agreement or Blair's CAP reorganisation), being hailed as a break through by Gina Miller, probably, or Tim Farron, if he is still about!
10.Britain isn't allowed to make trade deals until we leave, yet the EU can openly damage our prospects, and brag about it!
11.There are over a score of Tory MP 2015 GE expenses being investigated. Any may threaten a bye-election, just as Brexit negotiations conclude, and that would be exploited, again and again, from every Remainer faction in Britain and on the Continent!
12.A General Election is a good way of 'Moving On', even if the result isn't what we expect.
13.Project Fear has been shown to be spin
14.Many have realised that the SNP isn't for them, like the Scottish Fishermen
15.Many have realised that the EU isn't for them, like the Scottish Fishermen
16.Many have realised that the EU cannot cope with the mistakes that it has made: the Euro, Schengen, Open Borders, to name but a few
17.Many have realised that the EU contributes to the meekness of our spineless, submissive civil servants and ministers who have forgotten how to negotiate and follow up on crossed red lines. Taking complete responsibility is the way to go!
18.A General Election will sort out the minor parties: the Tory's have managed, by a fluke :) , to get a Brexiter PM (how much we can only hope), with a party morphing more into her image. UKIP won Britain the referendum, and helped in the result but, assuming we get a Clean Brexit, it will need to work out what happens next. The other parties will need even more soul searching, especially if Climate Change Science is shown to be the 'Dressed Up Politics' that it is, driven by the International Elites, wanting to dismantle Western Civilisation, as well as contributing to higher fuel prices and electricity an unreliable energy provider, hardly a sustainable fuel. It is not even a fuel!
And the last point, which should be point zero, is that she was a Remainer and needs to have been elected as a Brexiter to give her the mandate, and mind set, for when she is in the thick of it, negotiating with Brussels, the EU, heads of the other EU provinces, with her enemies in front of her and her 'friends' shouting, from behind and in front, conflicting advice!
Apr 18, 2017 at 8:23 PM by Mark Hodgson
"UKIP will probably see their vote halved, with almost all of those votes going to the Tories, inflating May's majority. She then avoids any criticism of her not having been elected as Prime Minister, but just having been anointed by Tory MPs (as at present) and bolsters her authority, while going a long way to knocking UKIP out."
Another reevaluation!
I think many UKIP voters would not be that unhappy with that, if May delivers a CLEAN BREXIT!
What it does not do though, is knock out UKIP.
Those people will still want what they want: sovereignty, but I think Theresa May knows that!
UKIP have changed British History with little representation in Parliament, and could well do so again, whether they have MPs or not.
I have heard that UKIP are considering only targeting some seats, given the complicated geometry that has arisen. And we don't even have the party manifestos out, so 'the Politics isn't Settled' yet, not even at the starting line :)
Corbyn only has two Shadow Cabinet members capable of appearing in the media to defend him and his policies - Diane Abbott and Emily Thornberry.
Diane Abbott is proving so popular with the media, Thornberry may be wondering what she has to get wrong to compete with Abbott for some attention, but I look forward to her putting some real effort into her comeback.

UKIP aka Nigel Farage has changed UK and EU history. I am grateful for that. What is it that UKIP "could" change now, that May is not already doing? EU arrogance is simply reinforcing the BREXIT decision, and strengthening May's position.

"What is it that UKIP "could" change now, that May is not already doing?"
That is easy because she hasn't actually done very much! She has become the PM without even a party vote, so she hasn't made many promises. The DECC has been liquidated, with most of its functions placed in other departments, and May has said 'Brexit is Brexit', but she has let the opposition define the present. Not a bad plan, if only because the EU and its agents are their own worst enemy, whether it is the Scottish woman, Drunker, any LibDem or Gina Miller. However, it does mean that she hasn't drawn any red lines: good for the negotiations, yet not so good for deciding how to vote in the General Election. We wait for the Tory manifesto!
Outside the Brexit discussion, the Tory Party's MPs have been content to let the 2008 Climate Change Act continue to destroy British industry, to have an education system that crushes the able but not so academic, that produces graduates where only half can get a 'graduate job' and the other half are stopped in their tracks, mainly because of bad choices because they have been given poor information: and nearly all will up to their eyes in debt! They were still for HS2. May was still for the 0.7% foreign aid promise. Yes, we wait for the Tory manifesto!
There are so many things that she could change, but here is the problem: the Tory Party MPs that we have now or, to be more exact, we had yesterday and will be expected to be returned on June 8th are, more or less, the same as they were with Cameron. They were a bunch of Remainers, now a bunch of Leavers. Some have said they made a mistake so, good for them, but what if the EU's strategy is to be more and more extreme, until May gives up or, much more likely, gets removed, just like the last woman Tory PM who disliked Brussels. Who knows whether the Tory MPs will return to the fold and the Judges will be even more 'European'.
"EU arrogance is simply reinforcing the BREXIT decision, and strengthening May's position."
Only if she is not worn down by the Remoaners and there are no 'events, dear boy, events'. I don't think the British will meekly accept the EU diktat as the Denmark did in 1992 and 2005, Norway did in 1994, Ireland in 2001 and 2008, France in 2005, the Netherlands in 2005 and 2016 or Greece in 2015. But I am not so sure about the Tory MPs, in fact, I am not so sure about most of the MPs. EFTA or the Norway option may have been considered if we were dealing with sane foreigners, but when we get daily evidence of complete insanity across the Channel, the quicker we can get out the better!
Express: BREXIT BILL LATEST: Barnier reveals EU bill will include foreign aid to Ukraine and Turkey
It would only take the Tories to get in with a comfortable majority, and a mini crisis courtesy of Brussels, to change the momentum, egged on by Nick Clegg and Tim Farron. (Even if they lose their seats, the BBC will be broadcasting their wisdom across the nation.)
But we wait for the Tory manifesto, don't we, and Sunday's vote in France?

The Wrong People do the Right Thing
by Mark Steyn
Then came Brexit. Most of the present Tory parliamentary party were not exactly flaming Brexiteers. The present Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, with his usual wily opportunism, was the Johnniest-come-lateliest aboard the Leave bandwagon. The present Prime Minister, Theresa May, was a very sotto voce Remainer. With a few exceptions, it's a caucus filled with "the wrong people".
Yet here they are, doing the right thing. Brexit created the conditions that healed a two-generation split in the Conservative Party - to the point that Mrs May is now running a general-election campaign dedicated to "the national interest" and "standing up for Britain". And, for the first time since the party's matricide of Mrs Thatcher, every elector knows what those phrases mean: not weaselly Cameronite blather about promising to raise the possibility of appearing to get tough with Brussels bureaucrats (before caving in), but something simple and unambiguous - a post-EU Britain, a nation once again. Brexit has re-shaped the political climate in a way that even the usual shifty grubby unprincipled Tories can't help get on board with.

The BREXIT referendum result was considered too close to be conclusive, by Remainers.
May 2017 confirmed the Nation was more than happy with BREXIT.
June 2017 could be billed as a last chance to REMAIN, but it did not do the Lib Dems much good on Thursday.
A Progressive rout of those parties Remaining in Opposition, seems likely after the General Election, but infighting I going to erupt before then.
May should offer Nigel Farage a Life Peerage, as a public gesture of the Nation's gratitude. If he can do to the House of Lords what he has done for the House of Commons, and IS still doing to the EU, he will have over 50% of the public's approval, still more than any Prime Minister.

There is just so much supporting material at No Tricks Zone and elsewhere, yet it never gets into the MSM.
It is pointless raising the issue as they just look at you with incredulity. (It might be me!) To them, the news is alien and contrary to what important people have told them. They don't understand that Science isn't a set of facts ((C) JCurry), they cannot even follow a two step presentation because applying basic Science is beyond them and I expect they are too wary of thinking differently to the rest of the crowd. And they respond with the attitude of, 'What's wrong with you: don't you want to save the World?'
There are dozens of sceptical articles listed in the sidebar at NZ. And look at the latest at article there:
NoTricksZone: New Study Finds Renewable Fuels Are Dirtier Than Fossil Fuels!
It shows the opposite of what is still being propagated and that the 'Science is not Settled'.
