Discussion > GHG Theory step by step
Russel,
Even Ken Rice has given-up on your false flag tactics.
Years ago.
Does anyone trust the Peer Reviewed Climate Science literature on ECS?
Does anyone trust the Peer Reviewed Climate Science literature that has come out of Mann, his faithful Hockey Team, the 97% Consensus et al gore etc?
If ECS is lower than previous presumptive guesses, do any of the Climate Models retain any value? Where does it leave Peer Reviewed Climate Science that depends on Models and their ability to predict anything?
The fluffiness of clouds throws another spanner in the works:

"When I saw a link to the Australian pan evaporation data, I thought hmmm, that could be interesting. So I took a look … and found a truly funny statement, viz: However, the installation of birdguards on the pans during the late 1960s and early 1970s is known to have created an inhomogeneity in the climate record."
"This shows that in Australia when the temperature goes up by 1°C, the increased clouds reflect an additional 1.4 W/m2. Again, this is in agreement with my hypothesis about the clouds being part of the temperature regulating system."

This news may raise fears of an even faster melt of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet

Clipe: interesting, and is does go some way to support the hypothesis of Frank Davis; it looks as though the underlying rock is now heating enough to melt the overlying ice. Interesting to note that no-one has picked up on it, and offered any counter-argument or agreement.
Radical Rodent, from clipe's link, this from Jo Nova in 2014. Since then, rather more volcanoes have been discovered.
There is an interesting plot of East and West Antarctica along with volcano locations. You would never believe it, but Climate Scientists keep finding evidence of Global Warming due to CO2 above volcanos. Do they create acid steam?
Trenberth's Energy Budget has not been adjusted.

The findings of lead author Dusty Schroeder and his colleagues show that the glacier sits on something more like a multi-burner stovetop with burners putting out heat at different levels at different locations.
“It’s the most complex thermal environment you might imagine,” said co-author Don Blankenship, a senior research scientist at UTIG and Schroeder’s Ph.D. adviser. “And then you plop the most critical dynamically unstable ice sheet on planet Earth in the middle of this thing, and then you try to model it. It’s virtually impossible.”

Will it be considered a success if petrol is withdrawn from sale in California, as ECS "issues" remain unanswered, and US Taxpayer funding of Climate Science enters a drought?
Do you have an update on the Legal delays caused by vexatious litigant Mann?
Interesting to note that no-one has picked up on it, and offered any counter-argument or agreement.

The builders of Alpine Chalets have been designing low pitched roofs to keep snow on, to provide a better thickness of insulation.
This also reduces the risk of roof avalanches landing in streets in urban areas, which if they consist of sheets of ice, ARE fatal.
In the UK, some fix gratings to prevent autumn leaves blocking gutters. In Scandanavia, gratings are fixed on roofs above the gutters to prevent fatal ice falls.
The Thwaites Glacier and associated West Antarctica ice sheets may well be suffering from too much heat from beneath, not from above.
Steig et al (Hockey Team) compounded error after error resulting in
https://climateaudit.org/2010/12/02/odonnell-et-al-2010-refutes-steig-et-al-2009/
This prompted a comment from Hockey Stick and Harvey et al 2017 devotee as follows:

"I am sure to be baffled by Steig’s sudden vituperativeness, but the link does not seem to lead anywhere. I am unsure that paulw’s point depends on providing a timeline about who started what. Everyone’s decision to do what they do is their own to own, as always.
The most important sentence from paulw’s comment is this one:
> Both maps show that a big chunk of Antarctica is heating up and melting away.
"To know if paulw’s interpretation is correct, there would need to be a discussion of the results for climate science. Granted the statistical shortcomings of Steig’s work, what do the colors tell us exactly"
I think the colours tell us that Climate Science descended below ground level, and has been measuring the heat that comes out of the bowels.
Meanwhile, complete with an explanation for both the LIA and MWP, comes this:

Dr. Rex J. Fleming, a former NOAA climate scientistwho earned both his Master’s and Ph.D in meteorology, has published a new paper in the Environmental Earth Sciences journal that details the lack of an identifiable causal relationship between CO2 concentration changes and Earth’s temperature changes. He suggests “there is no propensity for CO2 to store heat in a systematic way over time to produce a climate change effect”.

Does Climate Science need to abandon Western Antarctica in the search for EVIDENCE of Manmade Global Warming?

You asked how the Antarctic edge was behaving.

"Dr. Rex J. Fleming, a former NOAA climate scientistwho earned both his Master’s and Ph.D in meteorology, has published a new paper in the Environmental Earth Sciences journal that is a tired rehash of long discredited claims and bad physics"
FTFY. To take one example - the proposed correlation between global temperature and solar cycle length. First asserted by Eigil Friis-Christensen and Knud Lassen in 1991 who in a paper in Science demonstrated a ‘strikingly good agreement” between solar cycle lengths and land temperatures over the period 1860–1990. But Peter Laut demonstrated the correlation was due to poor data handling:
http://stephenschneider.stanford.edu/Publications/PDF_Papers/Laut2003.pdf
and Lassen himself in 1999 published a later paper showing the correlation broke down after 1990.
And oh look – the graph in the paper – sourced to Landscheit 2003, a paper in comedy journal Energy & Environment – is truncated in 1990.
And in case you were wondering who Landscheit (now deceased) was, among his other works were 'Cosmic cybernetics;: The foundations of a modern astrology, and his wikipedia entry describes him as a 'German author, astrologer and amateur climatologist'.
That's right, NoTricksZone is feting a paper that quotes an astrologer. It doesn't take a crystal ball to judge the chances of that ending well.

Why should anyone trust Hockey Team devotees for an opinion on Climate Science? What have they got right?

Anything is "possible" in Climate Science, but reality and observations suggest it is highly improbable. How will "rapid sea level rise" occur?

"Schneider"
"And oh look – the graph in the paper – sourced to Landscheit 2003, a paper in comedy journal Energy & Environment – is truncated in 1990."
"But Peter Laut demonstrated the correlation was due to poor data handling:"
Data truncation and poor handling of data was all part of Mann's Hockey Stick, and when you mention Schneider, it does not restore Climate Science credibility. You need to concentrate on which bits of Climate Science are worth saving, but you seem to have given up on IPCC Peer Reviewed guesses for ECS.

Rud Istvan confirms that Climate Science is over-rated and overpaid.
GHG Theory step by step.
Over 1800 comments and no warming to speak of.

ECS seems overrated. There is no observed evidence to support the Computer Modelled "evidence".
Antarctic warming seems to be limited to areas of volcanic activity.
Developed parts of the World have warming due to UHI.
Climate Scientists have looked everywhere for Global Warming, at vast expense. They are no longer required.

"The foundations of a modern astrology, and his wikipedia entry describes him as a 'German author, astrologer and amateur climatologist'.
97% of professional Climate Scientists are wrong, and should not be paid.
"Developed parts of the World have warming due to UHI."
UHI is also magically heating up the oceans.
Bet you're a Taurus.
Phil Clarke, have they finished adjusting out the erroneous adjustments from HADSST3 yet?
Why does your link not show records from the mid 1800s, which show warming, at a time when Arctic Ice extent was spreading?
Climate Audit has covered HADSST3, so as Judith Curry:
https://judithcurry.com/2012/03/15/on-the-adjustments-to-the-hadsst3-data-set-2/
vvussell, have you given up on Climate Science like Mann?
