"entertained himself with power games" is on the money I feel, there are some individuals who feel invulnerable from public criticism that plays to a swaggering attitude and Fauci looks like a very prominent one ....

Yes, Fauci's resemblance to a rat is more than skin deep; as you say, he has all the cunning as well. He stays focussed on what keeps him in the clear. No need to get bogged down contesting the squillions of pharma-dollars his department is awash with, just "None of it came to me".
And I wouldn't be all that surprised if it turned out to be true. Money is a great motivator, but it's hardly the only one. Think of the very modest way that Stalin lived. Fauci might have thought he was well enough paid from the public purse and entertained himself with power games instead. Congressional inquiries might just serve as an interesting diversion for him in his retirement.
Justice may miss out, but I'm still hopeful that death will catch up with him in due course (though maybe there's a special arm of the NIH building a pyramid for him).
Some mention of the "Tommy Robinson Rally" at Jo Nova's. Reminded me of golf charlie, who used to get a bit triggered about him. Anyhow, it appears the media haven't been very accurate describing the participants. Shades of the Canadian truckers.
