Discussion > Log of BBC Climate bias

So what's going on with the "i'm not going on with that BBC video page "I'm not going to have children" ?

It doesn't seem to be a new-story but rather a call to action video that you'd see on a Greenpeace website
ie BBC acting as a free advertising platform for Green-politics

The header of the page is "NEWS", but the story is not news, it ahould say Climate Activism Adverts

Then below that is a set of links to videos : I am guessing that cos this page is tagged Climate change action
The other head links are pulled from other vids tagged the same across the BBC website
across the BBC website
... See each 4 to 4 weeks the BBC puts out an advert video calling for climate action

More detail : The html contains reference codes to 25 different BBC Facebooks pages
I am guessing that that is a command to post this vid to each of those 25 pages

The page html contains a lot of words that DON'T SHOW UP on the rendered page
eg "Almost 80% of Poland's electricity is generated by burning coal and around 400,000 people are involved in the coal industry. We spoke with climate activist Patryk Bialas about the challenges faced by Poland in becoming greener. \n\nA UN climate conference in Katowice, Poland will address the country's reliance on the coal industry in order to meet aims set by the Paris climate accord in 2015."
That is a reference to the "up next video" which it itself doesn't render the whole text

In fact the amount of hidden content is massive eg the words "climate" 315, "activist" 42
Yet on the rendered page "climate" 12, "activist" 3

People used to fill webpage with lots of hidden keywords to fool Google into giving your page a high ranking
- But #1 That is against Google rules
#2 It's bad practice cos the Google algorithm relies on indexing pages on what they actually contain

Oh there was another thing. i looked at the retweet pattern of that BBC page.
Basically it was retweeted by 100 activist type accounts
I was a kneejerk process, like "here is the new sermon", not one Twitter thread had an actual discussion,
.. no one discussed the details of the video.

OK Paul has done an article based on my notes above

Paul Homewood also has a piece on the latest BBC propaganda:

"BBC Promote Dishonest Christian Aid Climate Report"

Now that Attenborough's team has moved to Netfix they are putting out PR jobs in the papers
They are so plugging his BBC special for April18th
\\ Climate Change — The Facts, which will be broadcast on BBC One soon, will look at the science of climate change. The BBC promises an unflinching exploration of the consequences of rising global temperatures, alongside an assessment of potential solutions.//

March 25 The Times :

\\ ... Sir David argues that it is the duty of public service broadcasters like the BBC to communicate the conclusions of climate change researchers, who believe that global temperature rises of more than 1.5C could be *catastrophic*
— “not to propagandise, but to make people aware of what’s happening in the world, just as you would with any other kind of news”.

Giving grounds for hope is also crucial. “To go around saying ‘woe woe woe catastrophe and doom’, and then switch off, and leave that with the audience is not a responsible thing to do,” he said. “You ought to be looking at what things can be done.”

While small personal actions like switching off your lights or shunning plastic bags are important, ultimately global political agreements are the only way to reduce carbon emissions, he added. “What can a normal citizen do? In a democracy, what he can do is make sure that whoever he votes for when there’s an election has a view on this matter.”//

Of course his new Netflix sponsored by WWF seems already to be in big trouble for FakeNews
Netfix have not commented in 25 hours so I guess they are toughing it out*

* ah a defence is just in TMZ ..hmm that ad filled page looks like a trash publication
\\ Netflix, however, is standing by the filmmakers’ depiction, telling TMZ that it’s “a documented fact” that walruses are gathering on land because there’s less ice available, “which leaves them in unfamiliar, dangerous territory.”

In addition, Netflix tells TMZ that the filmmakers “worked with a seasoned Russian biologist who’s worked on that stretch of coastline — and with those walruses — for 35 years,” and that the disturbing scene will remain in the series.//

Contemporary eyewitness account

In the ‘making of’ documentary the film crew and director Sophie Lanfear were visibly upset by the falling walruses and did not mention seeing polar bears on the clifftops.

Cameraman Jamie McPherson said: “They’re not being pushed, there was no stampede. They just calmly walked off a cliff. They’re not even being attacked by the polar bears, they’re just falling on their own because they can’t get down the cliffs.”

Ms Lanfear added: “They would be on the ice now if they could be but there is no option but to come to land. It’s really hard to watch and witness this.

“It’s not like a quick death, they just like tumble and then get internal injuries and just lie there. It’s just so heartbreaking, really really sad.”

Responding to the accusations, Ms Lanfear said: "We filmed Pacific walrus falling from high cliffs. They were not being  driven off the cliffs by the polar bears and we know this because we had  two team members watching the cliffs from afar who could see the polar  bears and were in radio communications with us to warn us about any bears  approaching the crew closer to the walrus and the cliffs.

"Once the walrus  had rested at the top for a few days they wanted to return to sea when all  the other below started to leave. We would watch them for hours teetering  back and forth on the edge before finally, falling off.

“Fundamentally, the reason walrus used this haul out location is because  of a lack of sea ice in the region, meaning they are coming ashore more  frequently than they did in the past. Especially mothers with their pups.  And at this particular site, once the beach below the cliffs was full, they  spread out and up the cliffs and were unable to find their way safely down,  with tragic consequences.”

Jus' sayin'

They ate too many lemmings. It's just all the lemmings inside 'em urging 'em over the cliffs.

I know, I know. Things aren't always the way they seem.

Re Polar Bear/ Walruses

A "eyewitness account" is an account by someone who witnessed something
A "Contemporary eyewitness account" is something which is wrtten just after event ie Contemporary
The Sophie Lanfear & crews account presented above has just been written now in 2019

That doesn't mean it is false , but it does provoke us to think whether it lacks some context
Cos otherwise there is some remarkable COINCIDENCE
In 2017 around the same time in the same place two different walrus "suicides" happened
#1 One reported 10/25/17 Polar Bears Drive Hundreds of Walruses Off Cliff in Siberian Bloodbath

And #2 another one reported in 2019 on Netflix which states the walruses ended up jumping purely due to Global Warming.

Apr 12, 2019 at 11:51 PM | Registered Commenterstewgreen

Apparently the BBC doesn't report on Green Dreams and Global warming enough
That's funny cos the BBC seems to spitting them in my face all the time.

eg On April 1st and 3rd R4 Prog Youth Climate Strikers
My Name Is...
17-year-old Londoner Noga Levy-Rapoport records her role in organising the UK wide school strikes and charts the impact of the growing global campaign for action on climate change.

This Thursday - Radio 4 Open Country was obviously a PR advert for the heavily SUBSIDISED Eden Project's new Morecombe base idea

For certain progs like Countryfile, The Radio4 Adam Rutherford show, The R2 Jeremy Vine Show and Costing the Earth these pet issues often come up get a one sided airing.
Local presenters battle to signal how green they are etc.

Today Friday at 4:46pm R4Feedback asked "Is the BBC doing enough to cover climate change?"
4pm they had a trailer started “Since we have only 12 years left, the BBC should be doing more to save the planet”
Then at 4:46 the actual item
First they did an item about the BBC podcast that serves the non-binary community

4:46pm item #bbcr4feedback with Shukman & Deborah Cohen, the Science Editor for Radio

During the item they made a tweet calving glacier pic etc. , why do that , it's not to promote the show it was already almost finished
Seemed be a POLITICAL advert for Climate Alarmism ?
There were very few replies on Twitter
.. as if most of their listeners have deserted them cos of the BBC MSM bubbleworld & its constant agenda pushing

FFS I am sick of you BBC metroLiberals spitting your pseudo-green agendas in my face all the time.
Most progs unlistenable
I have a thing called switch-on bingo, cos whenever I switch-on BBC radio/TV they are often spitting agenda in my face and half the time it's a GreenDream point
These are today's "wins"

- 7:30am Radio Humberside news ..quick promo in the news for the Hull kids Global Warming protest, repeated every half hour news until 2pm
- 7:34am Prog item with Climate Kid Kirsty
- by 2pm the news items had the LookNorth TV clip with Climate kid Louisa

- 8am Radio Lincolnshire news ..quick promo in the news for the Lincs kids Global Warming protest in Horncastle with Climate kid Holly (Only 12 years left) and Mum Hazel (pulling the strings ? Dad denied this )
repeated every half hourly throughout morning news
-8:25am-8:29am Live reporter Richard Madden at the site of Horncastle kids climate protest interview with Climate Kid Holly and Mum/Dad

- 9:30am RadioHumberside presenter Burnsy got carpark boss to do a spiel about how great Electric Cars are

- 2:22pm RadioHumberside tweeted "Fighting plastic pollution with community action" story
https://twitter.com/RadioHumberside/status/1116330617942302720

- LookNorth TV
6:35pm Hull Kids Global Warming demo item with very staged photo .. (and one rude sign)
6:36pm-6:40pm Anti fossil fuel activist
The report ended by saying she had been arrested and bailed at the anti-fracking camp and will appear in court in July (unless the court system decides to forget like they do sometimes with activists)
This week they have had Vegan, and environmentalist activists on already

-7pm trailer for Climate Change the Facts

- 7:50pm Radio Humberside tweeted the AntiFracking Activist story
https://twitter.com/RadioHumberside/status/1116775370009612288

- 8pm BBC Radio Lincolnshire the Hosts talking about them doing a Plastic Free week this week

LookNorth tweeted the AntiFracking acivist video

Then someone else posted video directly contradicting her story that she is a VICTIM
..and seemed to show that she was a very angry sweary person throwing stuff off the back of a moving vehicle and once hit an officers head with her scissors
Incredible video

They were the same incident, notwithstanding the headline, the Gizmondo article is clear that climate change played a role in the event. Also, that piece is a secondary account, relying in turn on a Siberian Times article. It's not even clear that the ST had a reporter on the scene, instead they quote Viktor Nikiforov, a WWF Polar Bear specialist. The assertion that polar bears stampeded the walrus is based on a single sentence from Nikiforov in that article. The filmmakers are quite clear that, when they were filming, the walrus were not being attacked by the bears.

@PC This thread is not the best for discussing the Walrus incident , rather Pail Homewood has three recent articles
I see @MrGrimNasty did some research
specifically he says
- certain shots seem to be taken from helicopter or done
- And sometimes ice is visible in part of the shots ..showing that it is not completely absent.

The denial of Crockford’s version published in the Telegraph by the producers, claiming to be present at the incident, is detailed and specific (no polar bears in the vicinity) so somebody has got the story horribly wrong or is lying.

Ever heard of a zoom lens? Desperate stuff.

I don't see why Phil is postting about Polar Bears vs Walruses here,
.. cos he and everyone else is commenting on the main post Bishop made on the home page

I would encourage everyone to look at the amazing difference
between the video did about the Anti-Fracking activist
..and the actual video of her arrest ..as I mentioned above.

3 more pieces of BBC Climate Change activism projects

Above (and on Twitter) I listed 14 Climate activism pieces I bumped into on the BBC on Friday
When I just checked BBC podcasts I spotted 2 more from the same day

#1 Beyond Today
Are Extinction Rebellion the new Suffragettes?
- "We also spoke to Phil Jones, who edits the Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2. Phil told us about the climate change phone-in that angered the nation and a mix-up that ended with Extinction Rebellion members being hauled from the Radio 2 studio by police."
Ben Pile's tweet about the prog

#2 Forest 404 an "eco-thriller podcast
"In the 24th century Pan finds a recording of a rainforest. But she has no idea what it is.
Because forests no longer exist. Find out more about ."

Wow it's not just a podcast it's an effing Eco-campaign
as well as drama the project has 2 more parts
ii The Experiment
"This podcast has been produced alongside The Forest 404 Experiment, a survey built in collaboration with Exeter University and the Open University.
The aim of the experiment is to assess the effects that different natural sounds have on mental health and well-being. The survey will be drawing on many of the natural sounds featured in the podcast.
You can take part in the 10-minute experiment and help us understand how people respond to the sounds of the natural world."

iii. The Talks (9 x Episodes)
Each drama episode has an accompanying talk which looks at the issues and questions around the themes, with a *diverse range* of speakers: musicians, bio-futurists, anthropologists and tree-climbers.
* "Diverse" usually means un-diverse ie people who CONFORM to the metroliberal bubbleworld

============

the third BBC thing is the BBC Climate Change Facebook chat-bot
that is an actual campaign rather than just journalism
Tweet of BBC webstory dated Friday 12th April

=============================
BTW Now 2:30pm BBC Lincolnshire is pushing item at me : winery that has she grazing under solar panels
as he "drives past in his Range Rover" "I'll say we are organic, tho we are not"
