That's not far off my assessment as well. It looks as if something has changed in the last week or so — they've done an upgrade or even had a hack or, as you say, tried to fix a glitch without working through all the knock-on effects of it.
Their experts will never agree that it could possibly have been something they did. They're worse than climate scientists!

And another thing!
We are also getting random time-outs and resets. The front page of the comments on the Lomborg thread is loading the first 19 comments and then freezing.
This has not been all that frequent but it has happened before. Suggests the Squarespace can't handle the traffic.

If I attempt a post without logging in, it often works (so long as it's one of my first posts for several hours).
But squarespace no longer presents a captcha nor does it any longer say "your post is being processed" (or something similar that it used to say). It just goes ahead and accepts my post at once.

I tried to post on Unthreaded yesterday evening. I was given the 403 error. The post appeared at 4.07 this morning.

I've noticed that if I do more than two Preview Post to check links then I'm 403'd for a couple of days.

Raff, you might get some respect round here once you attempt to earn it. Only two of us reported xp, and both of us also reported other operating systems. In my case, I have some other expensive and currently irreplaceable software on that particular machine. It is temperamental enough as it is, but changing OS is not an option.

I run XP on one machine because I happen to have a couple of old programs that I love but won't run under 7 and an old colour ink-jet likewise which is not worth replacing becaus I no longer have enough use for it.
On this machine I'm running Windows 10 which is why I started this thread because sometimes new operating systems can have the odd glitch especially where they are interfacing with some established software set-ups like Squarespace or WordPress.
Why Raff should care what we run is a mystery but then so is his idea that there is any reason to suppose that a machine capable of running 10 is inherently more secure than one capable of running xp or 7.

I get the error on my Android phone, but same broadband address.
When it happens on my PC, it is repeatable, even if I reboot and/or delete cookies. Waiting several hours appears to be the only remedy.
Surely, Squarespace can trace through what is happening. It is so 20th century.

I thought I would take a look at the Squarespace web site.
Words fail me. It's really lovely, all trendy artwork, big boasts and lots of promises. Full of words (and music for all I know; I've got the sound off) and signifying nothing if you let your clients down.
I was looking for somewhere where I could post in big letters: YeahI Fine! But why are you so bleeding useless that you can't fix an access problem on one of your client's websites?
I'm surprised no-one has started a #squarespacearerubbish page!

Mike, it could be that you run XP securely, fully patched, using a non-privileged account, the latest Firefox, etc. or keeping it off the Internet completely. Or it could be that you you're un-patched, still using an obsolete Internet Explorer and wide open to being owned. I have no way of knowing, but since you think XP is as secure as Win10 I'd guess at the latter. You probably ignore expert opinion on computing just like you do on climate science, thinking you know better - what do experts know anyway, eh?
The reason other people should be bothered is that your being owned and (e.g.) unknowingly part of a criminal bot-net affects others. I imagine you wouldn't see it that way though; just like you'd probably thinks there's no point in our cutting emissions as a small part of the problem, when there's millions of compromised PC's what is the difference of one extra.

I have no way of knowing what you know about computers; all I know is what I know about computers and I am quite happy that my xp machine is as secure as it needs to be.
Any machine is only as secure as the security systems which are installed. W10 may be more secure than xp but only because Microsoft support for xp has ended and because the hackers haven't (yet) found the holes. Which will be there because Microsoft is .... well, Microsoft. At that stage your anti-virus and firewall will be your best defence as they always have been.
Your post is down to your usual standard of assuming everyone is your inferior while you continue to slaver at the feet of climate activists as if they were some sort of god.

Mike, Einstein is said to have said, “The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.”. You might reflect on that as you try to learn why every sentence in your 2nd para is to a greater or lesser extent wrong.
