Discussion > Drs against Diesel : A subsidy mafia Front

In Waverly Surrey in 2015, 2016 a council officer just made up tge figures
.. and got caught when someone said she'd not sent
in the analysis tubes.
And tgat she was playing down real pollution under political pressure.

Tge case just came to court she'd resigned in 20@7 so was given a suspended sentence.

The official WHO account tweeted this

@WHO
The climate crisis is a health crisis. #AirPollution kills an estimated 7 million people every year.
This year, WHO will work towards developing a set of policy options for governments to prevent or reduce the health risks of air pollution.
..it shows how thick they are
that they think Climate and pollution are the same thing
Climate measures like burning WOOD in Drax or straw in other power stations, creates MORE air pollution than the old way by coal

"Emissions of extremely potent GHG have hit record levels"
"one tonne of HFC-23 generates same warming as 13,000 of CO2"

Why it's fishy
cos it has this line
"An extra 24.4 million kilogrammes of HFC-23 was released"

doh that's 24,400 tonnes

@lunguk
1,040 deaths in Liverpool each year are linked to #Airpollution.
This is just one of the many findings from our latest research report into Liverpool City Region's toxic air, released today with @KingsCollegeLon & @UK100_
Read the full report here: http://bit.ly/3axzNlL

Why it seems PR BS
#1 Raw deaths is a rubbish metric
QALYs is what matters
There are no raw deaths here they are extrapolating from lower lifespan in those areas which happen to be poorer.
#2 Correlation is not causation
.. They claim air CAUSES reduced lifespan there.
..They also claim low car ownership means mote walking

again that Correlation is dodgy
car ownership in other areas could be areason why car owners live longer etc.

Jan 27th Yorkshire Post and ITV local news make dramatic claims 1,500 people died in a year from air pollution.

Why this is PR BS
... no death certificates give air pollution as cause of death

death counts are usually hypotheticl

or there is another way where people die from Asthma and someone argues that pollution made it worse

The report quotes the British Lung Foundation
gives the name "kathrin Ennenken" as " Data Analyst"
The strange thing is that apart from this new story the internet has no other mentions of that name ..ZERO

Actually BBC local news gave a different source
"Centre for Cities @CentreforCities
📚 Yesterday we launched #CitiesOutlook2020 with a focus on air pollution. As with all our research, you can read it on our online reader "

Looks to me that the club of cities is saying
"We have identified a problem, give us the cash"

Jan 28, 2020 at 6:00 PM | Registered Commenterstewgreen

That org was founded by Labour Party guy
Lord Sainsbury of Turville

"Our mission is to help the UK’s largest cities and towns realise their economic potential."

ie it is likely to say cities have a problem and use that as an excuse to ask government for $$$$ money

Tues "22m cars will still spew out fumes after the ban"
quotes institute of Mechanical engineers
saying "low carbon fuels made from recyclables would have more of an impact
than switching to EVs"

The BS
as ever libmob don't understand that CO2 and Clean Air are different things

If you implement biofuels then you get more pollution cos biofuels burn dirtier than petrol/diesel, except hydrogen
and anyway engine tech increasing means fumes continue to fall towards zero on a do nothing basis.

We know such "renewable fuels are not zero carbon" cos they involve a huge fosdil fuel component.

and that modern airtight buildings need examining

(doh ... yes what about mould ? they don't mention it ... ah they do buried away)

It quotes RCPCH & RCP quotes reports on children
damp, "foosil fuels and wood", dust, materials in the house, smoking, aerosol, cleaning products *

One of the authors is Jonathan Grigg.

Claim a Uni of Sydney report in the Lancet
shows that even inside WHO limits PM2.5 increases heart problems.

"90% of problems happen when the PM2.5 is lower than WHO limits"

That's circular reasoning cos that could mean PM2.5 has nothing to do with 100% of heart problems

Jan 29, 2020 at 5:44 PM | Registered Commenterstewgreen

Monday's Times shows I am right that the pollution report was about "more money"

"Centre for cities report calls for the UK Government to Triple the size of the Clean Air Fund, which currently is £220 million for the period 2018/19 to 2020/21 to help cities introduce policies to improve air quality "

Jan 29, 2020 at 6:17 PM | Registered Commenterstewgreen

"Two hours of diesel fumes harms heart"

Why that is PR BS
The Uni of Athens research is artificial
.. not real world research.

Of course you are harmed by being in a sealed room

LBC advert ..seems to be a joint campaign between Sadiq and LBC
"London's air pollution affects every borough
and everyone's health
.. especially children ( emotional blackmail fallacy)
.. the main cause ROAD TRANSPORT"

... em what affects a child's respiratory is what they breathe
.. and there is not clear evidence that each damaged person is affected by ROAD
eg. most people don't spend most of their time breathing ROAD air, they are indoors
.. so things like a log fire might well have a way bigger impact
.. or the drugs they smoke.

It continues
"The Mayor of London and TfL are working to clean up London's buses and taxis
but there are things we can do like switching ONE car journey for .. walking .. public transport
..we can help keep London's air cleaner together for everyone
see how the mayor ...
..sign up to do your bit at LBC.co.uk"

Why it is PR BS
Is it PR world or is it real World ?
Signs of PR-world
#1 Reducing full-colour-complexity to a a simple slogan or narrative
#2 .... and similarly proposing a simple solution with NO complex maths

eg, London Air Pollution kills children
.. it just doesn't ..It does reduce all our lifespans by days, it does make some asthma attacks worse

eg 2 a proposed solution of "Net Zero"
..see no complex maths there

The contrast is the Real World is complex when I lived in London in 1995 , the air pollution meant you didn't get sunburnt
The low level ozone was screening out UV
There would be positives and negatives in that

Their solution "One car journey a week"
FFS !..that is magically simple

LBC have this page marked June 2019
- https://campaign.lbc.co.uk/tfl-lbc-jun19
which leads to https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/about-tfl/air-quality?cid=air-quality
