Discussion > President Trump

If he was “in the car” as you say (he wasn’t) it’s difficult to see how he got shot in the back Seven shots does indeed suggest a stressed situation but it was a stressed policeman with apparently one of his hands grabbing the shirt of his assailant Stress does not excuse firing SEVEN times into a person’s BACK, especially when two policemen were involved Oh yes, and the person fired upon was also suffering from two taser strikes Incompetence coupled with a lack of care for the person being attacked Oh and by the way all this happening in front of his children in the car A perfect storm, throw the book at him, but it probably will be the now crippled who will be charged

BTW the shirt grabbing is important; the police cannot claim he was at risk of escaping👮‍♂️

'Watch your six and carry heavy'.

Not a phrase we have much use for in Derbyshire, I am extraordinarily happy to say. It was on the facebook so therefore the planeload of mercenary black-uniformed thugs is indisputably true.

LOLZ as I believe you hip urbanites say ;-)

And here is today's dead black man.

“I am not banning fracking. Let me say that again: I am not banning fracking. No matter how many times Donald Trump lies about me,” the former vice president said. Biden made the comments in a state largely dependent on natural gas development, and more than four months after saying at a Democratic debate in March that he will be ending new fracking projects.

Obviously Biden and the Democrats are suddenly very pro fossil fuels and have realised that Climate Scientists should never be trusted.

That really ought to be on the list of questions to ask Biden and Kamala to see if they agree that Americans like to go to work and get paid without their earnings being stolen by Climate Scientists.

I saw the shirt grab too and if it was to be effective the cop should've pulled the man away from the vehicle - which he couldn't do while holding the gun. From what I can see Blake was inside open door and looked to me to be able to access the door pocket and down the side of the driver seat - both places where a pistol could easily be stored. I guess the cops didn't have situational control and were panicked. We aren't the jury and as you're fond of saying - this is opinion.....

Poor outcome for all concerned.

An automatic pistol can shoot pretty much as fast as you pull the trigger - ca. 16 rounds a second theoretically. A full magazine, faster than it'll take you to read this sentence and quicker than most can count - I doubt the cop counted.

I don't do FB.

LA - the NYT has a more complete rendition of the tale

I'm not very hip and I'm not an urbanite.

As for AntiFa - we'll see ... allegations of organisation and payments have been swirling around for some time. Many of the clips I've seen of AntiFa in action filmed by Tim Pool and Luke Radikowski remind me of National Front skinhead thugs from the late 1970s in the UK - but shriller. I didn't like the NF and I don't like AntiFa = two cheeks of the same arse.

WTF is a police officer in a stressed situation doing with an gun on automatic fire? Criminal negligence and no concern for the general public IMHO What was he doing firing while potentially off balance and grabbing his victim’s shirt? A sudden pull and the shots could have gone anywhere 👮‍♂️ And the Donald flies to Wisconsin to support law enforcement at their behest Says it all

Remember - looting is legitimate protest! -
Sep 1, 2020 at 5:45 PM |

tomo

Hmmmm. One author, Vicky Osterweil, has written a book making the case (briefly) that looting is a legitimate form of wealth distribution. This is so 'out there' that she got some brief publicity, however no mainstream politician, spokesman or pundit of any influence whatsoever has endorsed that view, indeed they have all consistently said the exact opposite.

In rural Derbyshire we call this 'making sh1t up'.

Vicky Osterweil is possibly channelling Howard Stern- as in feeding an audience that are there to hate on her or "click baiting" in modern parlance. I don't know if she's cynical or stupid -but it looks superficially like something that might turn up in Guardian CiF.

AK 7:14
that's simply the way many pistols normally work. My opinion is that police should be regularly trained in martial arts - a perishable skill that usually places great emphasis on situational awareness and the management / control of a confrontational situation. I'd guess that most cops spend their days trundling around donut and coffee shops and doing mundane paperwork - the effect of an avalanche of adrenaline - not difficult to see that's going to mess them up.

As I said up thread bullets aren't like in the movies - they come apart and fly in all directions after impacting what look like things that they should go straight through.....

To me it looks like the cops trying to arrest Blake simply lost control of the situation and adrenaline did the rest - assisted in no small part by the antics of Mr Blake.

Evil bastards out to indulge themselves intimidating and brutalising people should be actively rooted out of police employ - that is sadly not the case too much of the time..... - likewise, failure on operations should guarantee redeployment to the parking ticket counting squad not promotion.

Yet compare. Blake, a black man, previously tasered twice and with his back to the police is shot (without warning that he was going to be fired upon) in broad daylight. Did the police think Blake was a threat to them with his back to them? Yet Rittenhouse, a white teenager sporting a gun at night and who had allegedly murdered two protestors, was allowed to go behind police lines, despite comments from bystanders that he had shot people. He certainly was a threat to anyone around him, but then he was a white teen. Difficult to defend. Trump didn’t even try.

AK

shrugging off being Tasered twice is, imho a pretty strong indicator that there's either very strong drugs or some crazed psycho thing going on - on balance I'd say drugs - arithmetic suggests meth or PCP.

As far as the teen with the gun is concerned - in the incident it seems possible his wasn't the only gun fired - and not fired first. There's enough video with sound out there to come to your own conclusions (opinions)

It's a bloody awful situation - but the focus is driven by the MSM herd - that AntiFa fellow with the rifle that was shot dead a few days ago after initiating a shootout (he fired first) seems to have been conveniently forgotten as is the bloke whose arm was nearly severed in Kenosha.

I recently read about a nightmare scenario that could easily develop after this November’s presidential election. It suggests that the majority of Democratic voters live in cities, whereas Republicans dominate in towns, suburbs, and the countryside. City dwelling Democrats are also more likely to use postal votes. So if the election is close and Biden wins as a result of postal voting, Trump will be tempted to cry foul and call upon his supporters to reverse the result. Thus armed legions of “disenchanted” Republicans will march on Democratic cities, precipitating civil war.

I find this believable and terrifying.

Sep 2, 2020 at 1:19 PM | Unregistered CommenterAK

AK

you're not wrong - that's been the case since the founding of the USA.

An inverse of the situation is also possible with the Electoral College deciding the outcome ...

"Republicans" don't need to march on the cities - merely stop supplying them....

The difference now is that the cultivation of dissatisfaction after 2016 has been epic - whoever wins in November the other side is going to complain. I hope that the outcome is unequivocal to the point where the postal vote is a side issue - I really do hope that that is the case.

fwiw I also think Biden isn't the real candidate. I'm putting £5 on Michelle Obamah's nose.

Axios ? pfff I don't know .... The dynamics of elections are at least as important in many cases as the policies of the participants, as a late entry can rally dispirited electors and a careful choice of message in a short campaign can blindside the opposition and force them into being reactive rather than proactive, ceding the initiative.

Phil I had forgotten this aspect - a surefire prescription for claims of foul play, followed by violence. If Biden finally wins after an early Trump lead, will Trump use the National Guard/Military to impose law and order? A sure way of causing further unrest and perhaps even state succession - can’t see California remaining under a disputed Trump presidency or Texas under Biden.

How lies are spread….

1. The Toronto Raptors basketball team show support for Black Lives Matter by decorating their tour bus fleet with a BLM logo. Not a lot of sport going on right now so the buses have been parked up since early July.

2. James Woods tweets a photo of the parked buses claiming they are BLM/Antifa official transport complete with armed guards.

3. Tomo likes the tweet and links to it, 'cos it confirms his worldview.

4. James (presumably) realises his embarrassing mistake and deletes the tweet. There's a cached version here.

You have to be quick, the time between a Tomo link appearing and its debunking gets shorter every time ;-)

There is quite a long tradition in the USA of bussing people around for political purposes that you're apparently ignorant of:

From my own experience peripatetic agitators are a thing in the UK - I've met them - in the late 1970s at anti-NF "events" >> tactical meetings, planning and team leaders on the day.

That there are core organisers and funders behind some of the civil disturbances/riots mostly peaceful protests in the USA.

The Derbyshire Branch of The Tooting Popular Front obviously doesn't get out as much as it should.

If you think Open Society is a positive force in global politics, you're not paying attention.

Sep 2, 2020 at 5:47 PM | Registered Commentertomo

Maybe, but your 'Antifa/BLM' buses actually carried large numbers of baseball players and their entourage, black-clad tooled up protestors, well not so much.

Is it really so hard to do a quick Google before you link to bollocks?
