Discussion > President Trump

May 12, 2017 at 10:20 AM | tomo

Supertroll, I said I had no evidence, but tomo's link provides a fair amount of evidence, plus a lot of inconsistencies about the Clinton campaign team, before and after her downfall.

It also suggests Clinton would have fired Comey on Day 1, and gives a clear suggestion about her intended replacement.

The name John Podesta keeps coming up in connection with wrong doing.

golfCharlie. I agree, but the FBI stated that Clinton had done wrong and she admitted to it. My recollection is that one of the unspoken reasons that Conley concluded she should not be prosecuted was that she was merely the latest and most high profile person to have carried out inappropriate IT security procedures. By prosecuting her, a whole can of worms would have opened up, going back into the Bush administration. This is seemingly now being ignored.

To me the timing and the manner of Comey's dismissal stinks to high heaven.
Why was the dismissal letter sent to FBI headquarters when it must have been known that Comey was in California?
Why was information about the dismissal released to the media before Comey was informed?
This smacks of a vendetta and pettiness.
Why was the need to dismiss Comey so immediate when the reasons offered for the dismissal were known months ago?
Why, if Comey was doing such a bad job, did Trump go to such pains to give Comey approval and broadcast such supportive statements immediately after he assumed office?
The stink comes from both sides of the political divide, yet you seem to be seeing it only through the Trump prism.

Supertroll, I think you are perhaps giving Trump too much credit.

There was a regime change. At all levels. The machinations of Washington are not just with Trump. Of course the President has some power to save or undermine. But it isn't a dictatorship.

I don't think the Comey Voodoo doll exists with Trump's pins. Trump doesn't always have to force these things, he can just go with the flow when it suits him.

In no organisation in that I have worked has a single one on one relationship defined how that organisation works at the top level. Even the biggest idiots and assholes are difficult to dislodge. I have seen friends stab the other at the right moment.

It is just politics.

Gwendolyn. Ah, but are we supposed to condone such actions? If Trump supported Comey in January, then are his current statements that he was considering firing Comey fake news or are his current statements fake? I note that you don't attempt to answer my questions or speculate upon their significance.

On another matter I am beginning to wonder what the reaction here will be if Trump's daughter convinces him to renege on his previous opposition to the Paris agreement.

A regular reason for sacking someone, when they were away from the office, was to prevent them cleaning their files as they cleared their desk. Speculation

Clinton was being investigated for misuse of classified and confidential info. Huma Abedin got dragged in via her husband, and revealed more evidence. Fact.

I do not doubt that Clinton was only the latest to be abusing classified info, going back to Bush. (Which one?) Drain the swamp.

Did Comey give Trump reasons why Clinton should be spared further investigation, AND a possible jail term? Speculation

Comey has gone before Senators/Congressmen and lied on oath. Fact.

Clinton has been given the benefit of the doubt, too many times by the media. I am finding it more reliable, if I don't.

Progressive Climate Science Advocates keep claiming the Climategate EMails were hacked, (despite there being no evidence of a hack), and ignoring the evidence contained. Progressives keep claiming Russian involvement with WikiLeaks, rather than focusing on the information produced.

I would speculate that the FBI has become factionalised over "Political Loyalty", even though that is NOT in their job description. The swampy stench pervades the FBI. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

I tried to answer your questions previously, but interweb froze.

I am not trying to condone, just make some sense. Trump sought second and third opinions on sacking Comey. Perhaps he was waiting for something, and someone has leaked the fact that questions had been asked.? Speculation.

Whatever HIS decision is over Paris, he will be attacked. I hope he takes the risk of hurting his daughter's emotional sensitivity about Green Fluffy Bunnies, and their limited life expectancy

Podesta needs to be asked a lot of questions under oath.

Supertroll,

I am not convinced by all of it, but Bernie Sanders is still crying foul over his loss to Clinton, presumably because he still thinks he would have beaten Trump, if "they" had not stopped him. I don't think Sanders is accusing Trump or the Republican Party of "stopping" him against Clinton.

Supertroll,

Bill, Hillary and Obama are linked by Podesta. The Guardian could smell the stench from the Democrat swamp then, but can only smell Trump's now.

The MSM are being a bit 'over enthusiastic':
The common element in nearly all the major New York Times and Washington Post stories about President Donald Trump this week is that they are based on source documents the outlets cannot authenticate, do not possess, admit are partial, and refuse to share.
Breitbart: Mainstream Media Propaganda, from Khalidi Tape to ‘Nut Job’

After all, who needs evidence? It appears the MSM are beginning to realise that they do:
With headlines swirling and lawmakers meeting behind closed doors, it’s not difficult to conclude there is trouble in the Trump White House.
But a deeper dive reveals that lots of people who would not consider themselves Trump supporters admit there is no evidence of any wrongdoing by the Trump campaign regarding alleged collusion with Russians.

Breitbart: Dems, Media, Intel Folks Fall Into ‘No Evidence’ Column on Trump Campaign Collusion with Russia

But it can be taken too far:
Breitbart: There Is No Proof of No Evidence of Trump-Russia Collusion

Funny and sad at the same time, and it's not even my country.

What the MSM are not reporting:
"In short, the Obama regime did nothing but corrupt and debase the government, judiciary, law enforcement and intelligence services of America and now that damage is being undone by Trump."

I think you'll find that a younger Barry Soetero actually worked for a CIA company....

John Pilger has been banging on about it for ages.

All I directly know is that I downloaded Obamah's birth certificate PDF directly from whitehouse.gov and was gobsmacked by the ineptness of the "forgery" - I'm left thinking it was a deliberate provocation and a demonstration of "we can do whatever we like" power.

The antics of Obamah's Democrats in office ape the antics of The Labour Party in the UK - loading up the public sector + quangos with their chums and cultivating a menagerie of state supported charities. The judiciary got some special treatment from Mr & Mrs Blair.

The Legal, (and not so legal), professions have done incredibly well out of Mr and Mrs Clinton, and their good ol' buddies, Mr and Mrs Blair.

Some can still the possibilities of some really big pay days (weeks - months - years?) ahead

Bombshell: Comey Admits He Lied To Congress

Roger Stone calls for a ‘special counsel’ to investigate all the leaks going on and also look into the Clinton Foundation for their multi-million dollar bribes

On a related note, elements of the CIA admit they were in Hillary’s camp during the election

CIA folk were batting for HRC? - that was pretty clear all along - Brennan is I suspect for the chop - I wonder if he'll go gracefully (seems unlikely) - there are many likely to knife him before he gets to the golf course. He's been accused of being an ardent and prescriptive lefty ..... and there's also some persistent rumors about his antics in Riyhad ... in plain sight ... in the CIA....

"CIA folk were batting for HRC? - that was pretty clear all along"

There is a difference between we 'clever folk' :) seeing that and the news that "elements of the CIA admit they were in Hillary’s camp during the election".

The fog is clearing a little, with the Swamp up to their neck in it, and Trump unscathed:

There is definitely (clearly?) some very murky stuff going on wrt The Democrats and Trump....

Jul 14, 2017 at 5:31 PM | Registered Commentertomo

Quite a surprise that an outfit that was prominent in its partisan support for the Democrats and progressives in general seems to have been struck by a bolt of self awareness (or quite possibly seen its clicks plummet) has gone all fact finding a bit late in the day....

Snopes.com does a "survey" of Trump coverage - I don't know about anybody else - but my respect for their honesty and objectivity plummeted during last year's election - to the point where I simply didn't visit even if they appeared to be the "go to" site for some sense....

Blimey....

Now The Washington Post has a bit of an epiphany....

I wonder what's prompted all this ?
