Discussion > President Trump

Jan 6, 2018 at 12:22 PM | Supertroll

I have always had some doubts about Trump, and rather more about both Clintons.

Trump said he would be putting America First, and he is.

Trump is not paranoid, people really are out to get him.

Trump is not a genius, but he is not stupid.

Trump said he would drain the swamp. It is rapidly draining itself, but trying to flush him first.

Trump said he did not believe Climate Scientists. What is not to like?

"I have always had some doubts about Trump, and rather more about both Clintons".
I cannot recall you expressing doubts here, but its your option not to.
Clintons are old news, move on.

"Trump said he would be putting America First, and he is".
Are you sure he's not putting Trump first? I don't recall him doing much for the poor rustbelt voter over the past year.

"Trump is not paranoid, people really are out to get him".
Their is a situation where it is both possible to be paranoid and for people to be out to get you.

"Trump is not a genius, but he is not stupid."
Has anyone seen a picture of him reading a book?

"Trump said he would drain the swamp. It is rapidly draining itself, but trying to flush him first".
So he said it.

"Trump said he did not believe Climate Scientists. What is not to like?"
Climate change is not everything.

Supertroll, the USA chose the better candidate, out of two dodgy ones.

One of the reasons for Ronald Reagan's success as President, was that he had a very capable group of "advisors", to make decisions for him, as his condition declined. Quite how it worked, and in which room in the White House decisions and policy were worked out, I don't know.

Trump has his own ideas, and has brought with him people who shared his ideas. Trump is used to getting his own way, and hires and fires accordingly. He does go for quick-wins, based on his ideas, not those of a committee, and does enjoy the drama and flamboyance of trying to fix a problem with minimal effort.

He is creating an economic environment within the USA that welcomes industry, rather than scaring it away, and destroying what is left. Part of this involves making the USA self sufficient for energy, so that it is not dependent on world markets, and the uncertainties of supply and demand economics triggered by politicians and instabilities outside US control. This has upset politicians and bureaucracies within the USA and all over the world, including the EU. He is upsetting some of the most deserving people.

Gwen. Both of us knew didn't we, old friend, that we would never agree about Trump? Time will tell. Those predicting he wouldn't last a year have only a few weeks to be proven right.

Supertroll,
Obama created the America that elected Trump.
Successive UK Prime Ministers knelt before the EU, and created the right conditions for BREXIT.

In both cases, the rust belt vote, those that had been made unemployed from traditional left of centre manufacturing jobs, made the difference.

Blame Climate Science for both, and the rise of China as a world economic power, that is now winning hearts and minds in developing countries, by providing them with what they need and want.

Failed Climate Science and consequent Economics, is now rumbling elsewhere in the EU, and is threatening Merkel's vision, with the divisions it has created within her potential political coalition.

Mann's Hockey Stick was bent, not necessarily in the right places.

A conundrum / riddle for Phil Clarke and Supertroll

If the Clinton Foundation isn't a "pay to play" scheme, why have all their donations suddenly disappeared after Hillary lost any chance of attaining political power?

Sorry Tomo but this is a discussion about Trump in all his magnificence (the reincarnated Sun King), not the Clintons who I suspect are a spent force.

ST

Even though you seem not to like it The Clintons are unfortunately still relevant since we have yet to reach a stage where they are detached from the FBI, DOJ, IRS, CIA etc. players that supported them and either allowed themselves to be used or were complicit or indeed proactive in criminal antics surrounding the election that are still precipitating.

Try that "this is a discussion about Trump" thing in the spring and maybe I'll concede you have a point.

Tomo. Looking forward to your concession.

OK ...

Back on topic - prominent Democrat Alan Derschowitz on the TDS psychology / psychiatry wildfire burning in the American left.

Looks like Lew has clocked a revenue opportunity and has been testing the water....

Glenn Greenwald - not exactly known as a Trump fan has been showing a bit of independence with his assessment of the "West Wing" as interpreted by a vertain Mr. Woolf

Supertroll,
tomo was correct in that too many, had too much invested in a Clinton win. Fake News has been created to harm Trump.

The thing with Fake News, is that an apology is rarely issued. The BBC has been loving it, as they are not restrained by the normal standards of UK reporting that the accused is innocent until proven guilty

"Shirley you should judge a man by his enemies and critics."
Indeed, and I shine brightly as a result, a stable genius even?

There are reports that Trump retires at 6.30pm, has THREE televisions, and a constant order for Big Macs (what's wrong with Burger King?; I always preferred Wendy's with their jalapenos). But THREE televisions! Does Trump's elaborate hairstyle hide a third eye, and have Essex's nightmares come to pass? We are ruled by aliens? How many televisions do Putin, Merkel and May watch?

Jan 8, 2018 at 1:59 PM | Unregistered CommenterSupertroll

Supertroll,
By regurgitating garbage like that I think you a very high opinion of yourself not shared by others.
Perhaps the Donald watches three TV's at once because he is capable of doing so.I think the IQ of the three 'leaders' you mention probably adds up to that of Mr Trump

Supertroll, do you think that Trump gets a discount from MacDonald's, or will he have to allow The White House to be adorned with a big yellow M first?

Jan 9, 2018 at 12:17 AM | Unregistered Commentergolf charlie

Gwen. I wonder if his plan to add a big golden TRUMP on the White House was refused by the Supreme Court.

Jan 9, 2018 at 7:08 AM | Unregistered CommenterSupertroll

Supertroll, I think Trump Hotels have relied on paying guests. That was a Clinton method of inviting support, so I don't think Trump will have anything to do with it.

I am still not clear whether Trump goes to a Drive-Through MacDonald's, or sends a Presidential Bullet Proof Limo without him in it. If he wants to indulge on a future trip to the UK, he will find that his vehicle will not negotiate the tight turning circles laid out. Some people get wedged in doors due to fast food addiction, Trump could get wedged, between a kerb and a food place.

Jan 9, 2018 at 9:21 AM | Unregistered Commentergolf charlie

Gwen. Will Trump insist Her Mage eat Big Mac's at the customary dinner at the US Embassy.? Will she know to call them "Freedom Fries" ? The special relationship will hang by a thread.

Supertroll, she might prefer something more continental and exotic such as La Salade Chicken Thaï : découvrez une recette originale et savoureuse composée d'un mélange de spécialité céréalière à base de blé cuite, de légumes, de poulet haché mariné et frit, de roquette, de graines de sésame et de sauce soja. Servie avec une sauce aigre douce.

Ever heard the sound of a trick cyclist back-pedaling?
