Discussion > Naomi Seibt Appeal

The link to allow payments to Naomi is

https://www.patreon.com/naomiseibtmy

I regret not making this a hyper-link. That is well beyond my pay grade.

There is a full explanation of what the fund raising is really àbout over on WUWT.

I am sorry Iantanyrallt if posting this link intetferes with your plans.

I thank Mr Clarke for encouraging contributions to Naomi. If a modest amount was paid monthly such as the equivalennt to the cost of half a pint of beer each week then Naomi could plan to continue her mission to replace "Scoldilocks" as a role model for our youth. I will be making a contribution.

A piece by Christopher Monckton alleging, without evidence, that Naomi has been prosecuted and convicted and needs help with legal costs. An event not reported anywhere else, nor by Naomi herself, so far as I know. In a letter - paraphrased but not posted - Monckton claims she has been fined about £326. Her mother is an attorney and probably makes that in an afternoon, but hey you know what they say about fools and their money ;-)

To make a hyperlink in HTML you use the anchor tag 'a' with the target specified by the href property e.g.

Agreed, and i hope he will agree that Gary Evans of Greenpeace, Extinction Rebellion and The Guardian, now living in Aachen Germany, having lived under the name "Bluecloud" (possibly due to his herbal cigarettes) really does deserve to be singled out as a particularly vile, hatred generator, and referred to the German Authorities

St Greta really ought to distance herself, as fast as public transport will allow.

May 20, 2020 at 5:22 PM | Unregistered Commentergolf charlie

Anyone else bemused by this Bluecloud stuff, as I was? Turns out Gary Evans, online name Bluecloud, made an ill-judged remark deep in the comments to a Guardian article five years ago. I was unaware of this before today. Was the comment deleted? Yes, it was up for just 35 hours. Did the Guardian apologise? They did. Did Evans apologise? Again, yes, he was contrite and described his conduct as 'inexcusable'.

Storm in a teacup, you might think, regrettable, but these things happen, debates can get heated, people post things they regret. Indeed practically the same thing occurred at WUWT rather more recently. (No apology, just a deletion).

Bluecloud seems to be the name of a language academy Evans is (was?) involved in. Describing him as 'of the Guardian' is a bit of a stretch, he wrote a single article, on invitation, in 2010.

I don't know of any more recent behaviour that could get the guy described as 'vile'. In certain imaginations this ancient and minor incident means that anyone with environmental concerns can be accused of being 'happy to be associated with threats to decapitate people'. I've heard of tarring with the same brush, but with a brush that size you could paint the Northern Hemisphere ;-)

Desperate trolling.

Yes, why did you hijack another thread to troll the victim of oppression?

When I set up a monthly payment for Naomi a couple of hours ago I was the 83rd person to sign up for Naomi. If Phil Clarke continues to publicise this fine cause she will be propelled into a higher tax bracket.

As a result of the loss of her well paid job at the Heartland Institute she was left without proper funding. I am delighted that Iantanyrallt has publicised her situation. I hope those folk who can see through the no-platforming and data selection of the alarmists will continue to support Naomi.

If you can afford a few pounds a month I urge you to fund this exceptional young lady. Thank you Phil

You're welcome. I've never seen a Naomi video, and certainly have no problem with anyone posting anything they like anywhere they like, subject to legal constraints. I would watch a Naomi/Monckton joint production though. Bound to be priceless.

The young lady has lost her Heartland contract so needs a new income - and of course funding via Patreon is anonymous. Not sure how much filming you can do on £850/month though, she'll be able to buy a decent video camera once she's paid her fine ;-)

I see Greta is using her 1 million Krona prize and other earnings to set up a foundation.

;Monckton describes Naomi as the 'Anti-Greta'.

Facebook
Greta:3,124,488 followers.
Naomi: 23,373 followers.

Twitter
Greta: 4.1 million followers.
Naomi: 28.8 thousand followers.

Naomi's message is not exactly resonating is it? Doesn't quite have her finger on the pulse of public opinion perhaps?

So, yeah, please do dig deep and hand over your spare change. If you all chip in, maybe the 'anti-Greta' and her new benefactor can provide some top 'content' and raise her following up to 1% of the actual Greta.

Good luck.

How many millions does it cost to support Greta, her minders, speechwriters, and other hangers-on? Her mother obviously got a good marketing advisor.

Haters gotta hate.

Many people love to spread rumors saying that I have people ”behind me” or that I’m being ”paid” or ”used” to do what I’m doing. But there is no one ”behind” me except for myself. My parents were as far from climate activists as possible before I made them aware of the situation.

I am not part of any organization. I sometimes support and cooperate with several NGOs that work with the climate and environment. But I am absolutely independent and I only represent myself. And I do what I do completely for free, I have not received any money or any promise of future payments in any form at all. And nor has anyone linked to me or my family done so.

And of course it will stay this way. I have not met one single climate activist who is fighting for the climate for money. That idea is completely absurd.
Furthermore I only travel with permission from my school and my parents pay for tickets and accommodations.

[…]

And yes, I write my own speeches. But since I know that what I say is going to reach many, many people I often ask for input. I also have a few scientists that I frequently ask for help on how to express certain complicated matters. I want everything to be absolutely correct so that I don’t spread incorrect facts, or things that can be misunderstood.

As with climategate, Phil Clarke takes it on himself to excuse the inexcusable.

Iantanyrallt,
PC was just who I had in mind as thinking of himself in the Iago role -- the crafty schemer -- when anyone can see he's much more of a Roderigo -- Iago's dupe.

Are you claiming that St Greta paid for yacht hire, plus professional crew, plus their airplane tickets plus food, plus bloo loo etc for her heavily publicised Atlantic Crossing out of her own pocket money?

Somehow, either you or St Greta is having an honesty deficiency. There isn't much of it in your posts, and the MSM never question St Greta's.

Naomi Seibt should appeal to the poorest in Germany, even though the privileged Elite have decided to censor, silence and threaten her.

https://notrickszone.com/2020/05/20/former-german-fff-member-movement-run-by-privileged-eco-hipsters-far-too-apocalyptic-risks-civil-war/
"Emerging dissidence: 22-year-old student Clemens Traub used to be a regular Fridays For Future demonstrator, until he woke up and realized the whole thing was run by what he now calls “big-city arrogance” and “socially privileged eco-hipsters”.

The political science student, member of the German SPD socialist party, in fact says the movement is so radical and divisive that it even risks a “civil war”."

"Deviating from the sheer alarmism that is typical of his fellow socialist and green comrades, in his book Traub writes he has become worried that the movement will “divide society” instead of rescuing the climate. He went from being a regular FFF activist to an open critic of the movement.

Though Traub believes the climate is a serious problem that demands immediate attention, he feels that the radical FFF movement will make matters far worse instead of better. He accuses the movement of ignoring the concerns of the larger German working class."

By the by my friend "John" has just invited me to stay with him in his VERY well appointed holiday cottage. Will this be taxable in the UK? I am assuming not. Is a gift like this even worthy of mention? Do we have to wait if we travel in separate cars and practice "social distancing "

People contributing their own money directly - how dreadful.

Do elaborate how Greta gets to travel, stay in hotels, feed herself, buy appropriate clothes and take passage on multi-million ocean yachts etcetera.

May 23, 2020 at 12:18 PM | Registered Commentertomo

Greta was offered free passage on the yachts by their skippers, she claims not to receive any money for her activism and that all costs are paid by her parents, I am pretty sure if that was not the case someone would have written an exposé by now. A book of her collected speeches was a NY Times #1 bestseller which presumably helped. In December she was awarded the Right Livelihood Award which came with £100,000 cash which she used to set up a non-profit foundation for 'handling money (book royalties, donations, prize money etc.) in a transparent way'.

I've no problem with anyone donating to any cause or influencer they support, I want Naomi to get her message out so it can be evaluated, I haven't seen any of her stuff but the science seems to be the same old denier playbook.

The Heartland had high hopes for their 'Anti-Greta', they are in financial difficulties and desperately need to broaden their demographic away from the old white men archetype, but she apparently decided not to renew her contract because of the problems her association with them caused in her filmmaking. So she has lost that income stream (though if Heartland wanted to continue support they could so anonymously via Patreon).

The basis of Monckton's (and 'Friend of Iantanyrallt''s) appeal for money on the Fraulein's behalf was that she had been found guilty of a crime against the climate orthodoxy and needed funds to defend herself. But his evidence for this is that she was informed by post that she had been fined due to the content of some her videos infringing local regulations - probably on political advertising or 'product placement' of the Heartland Institute.

But … Monckton does not quote directly from the letters, you have to rely on his florid paraphrasing, he does say a lawyer has been engaged pro bono, and that any funds sent will be for Naomi's 'personal use', which may or may not not include legal fees. Naomi is active on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube and has made no mention of this decision, in fact the only mention of it anywhere in the whole world seems to be Monckton's post.

Doesn't add up. Though I would not go so far as one WUWT commenter:

So far you have the profile and credibility of a Nigerian scammer.

Clarky's out and about decrying a book he hasn't read = par for the course.

A couple of thousand Euros sponsorship to a German teenager who's working apparently on her own when Greta has - what, an immediate entourage of half a dozen salaried green lefty activists and I dunno - has she severed her association with Ingmar Rentzhog and if she has - who fulfils that MSM liaison function now? Mama and Papa talk transparency but there's little evidence I've seen that they actually walk the walk (Like say Monbiot);

It seems one of those inescapable truisms that the Green left scamper about accusing other people of doing what they are doing - in part because it's all they know.

"offered free passage on the yachts by their skippers "
"Mummy and daddy pay for everything "
"It all goes "to a not for profit" "
"I'm a virus pundit"
"How dare you"

That WUWT commenter wouldn't be a Clarky clone?

May 23, 2020 at 3:00 PM | Registered Commentertomo

Fact free smears and insinuations=par for the course.

A handful of fossil fuel lobbyists, politicians, and journalists have argued Thunberg is not what she seems—that she was propelled into prominence by environmental groups and sustainable-business interests. They say the entrepreneur who first tweeted about the climate strike, Ingmar Rentzhog, used Thunberg’s name to raise investment for his company, but her father says the connection was overblown. Greta, he says, initiated the strike before anyone in the family had heard of Rentzhog. As soon as she found he had used her name without her permission, she cut all links with the company and has since vowed never to be associated with commercial interests. Her family says she has never been paid for her activities

and the riposte from this version of Clarky confirms there's nothing in the ideas department - syndicated fawning Guardian hagiography from the lazy journolister tossers at Climate Desk - ooh I'm convinced - she's a prophet... she's pure , she's unadult-erated, a saint, a savant - prostrate yourselves heathens!
