Discussion > EU must be joking

Mike,
I remember going into an M&S and, finding a jacket we liked, but not the right size, motored to the next conurbation, and M&S. Even though I knew all their shops are similar, it was a bit of a shock when I experienced such similarity!

I just watched a speech by Danniel Hannan to libertarian students in Berlin (2015 in Berlin), this man grows in my estimation every time I listen to him.

Unlike Call Me Dave:
order-order.com: Dave Says Turkey EU Membership “Not Remotely On The Cards”

He was all for it:
"Just a few years ago Dave told his Turkish counterparts:

“I will remain your strongest possible advocate for EU membership… this is something I feel very strongly and very passionately about. Together I want to pave the road from Ankara to Brussels.”

But for some mysterious reason, he has changed his mind:
"Yesterday Cameron told the House of Commons Liaison Committee:

“I don’t think that the accession of Turkey to the European Union is remotely on the cards. I don’t think it will happen for decades. The facts are it requires unanimity of all European Union members… so I’d say very clearly to people, if your vote in this referendum is being influenced by considerations about Turkish membership of the EU, don’t think about it. It’s not remotely on the cards.”

I wonder what his view will be after 23rd June?

You don't have to make it up!

Here is an update to the linked article in my last post, with the referenced EU document:

"UPDATE: A European Commission press release fired off yesterday completely disproves Cameron’s statement:

“the accession process will be re-energised, with Chapter 33 to be opened during the Dutch Presidency of the Council of the European Union and preparatory work on the opening of other chapters to continue at an accelerated pace”

What puzzles me is that Juncker must (mustn't he? :) ) really understand that he and his fellow EU-supporters are not helping the Remain camp:
"In an outspoken address the EU chief accused “some of our colleagues” of listening to the wishes of their own people rather than pandering to the vested interests of the Brussels elite.

Mr Juncker claimed the “highly exciting” period which led to the catastrophic decision to create the Euro was now “totally gone” and had been replaced by division caused by certain countries wanting to look after their own people rather than the EU project."
JUNCKER BLASTS DEMOCRACY: EU chief brands MPs who represent voters 'part-time Europeans'

I have checked, and it's not April 1st. So, is he hoping that Britain leaves so that they can get on with the job of creating an homogenised Europe, unhindered by those wanting Democracy for their own country?

I don't think it alarms the pro-democracy campaigners. They already understand the situation, and it provides them with more evidence of the disaster on the other side of the Channel.

Juncker is a true believer, he is incapable of understanding anyone who does not believe, madness lies that way.

Paxman Gagged: Jeremy Paxman had some negative things to say about the EU in an article in the next issue of Radio Times.

stewgreen, the BBC has further exposed it's own double standards about impartiality. Will it have to be renamed the Brussels Broadcasting Corporation, to reflect it's loyalties?

Do you think that habeus corpus is important?

Do you believe that you are innocent until proven guilty?

If the answers to both those questions is “Yes,” then you HAVE to vote to leave, as both will be subsumed by European law.

Have you heard of the European Arrest Warrant? This allows another country to demand extradition of a suspect without providing any evidence to support the claim – the most infamous being the Portuguese issuing one on a man in Kent for murder, while the “victim” was playing golf in Germany.

There can be little doubt that the EUSSR is the dream on many of those in the political elite of Europe; Juncker being close to the top of that list.

It's not as if UK Police forces haven't got problems? South Yorkshire never puts a foot wrong as far as I can see.

I understand that there are plans for a European police force; the probability is that this will be established without any requirement to be held to account, something that the SY police would no doubt have appreciated.

Juncker's statements do worry me; I have no intention of taking any notice of an EU Police Officer for a start. Secondly although he is currently a powerless old man (Belgian even) his statements about taking no notice of electorates in the nation states shows exactly where he wants to take us.

J-C Juncker is from Luxembourg, was their Prime Minister, was voted out of power, so he took an even more powerful position in Brussels - a point that Hannan is fond of highlighting.

He is the current front man.

More and more alien plans are coming to light! And it is shocking that past and present ministers think nothing is the matter or that any of it should have been made public - or put in the 'David Cameron's Love In With The EU' pamphlet, hidden by many cabinet ministers and paid for by us!

"Europe’s elite should take away Britain’s ability to investigate and prosecute terrorists and place wide-ranging powers in the hands of unaccountable Euro officials instead, according to a bombshell report.

The dynamite proposal, from the European Commission’s own policy think-tank, suggests creating a centralised EU intelligence agency which would override the Met Police, MI5 and MI6.

Today critics of the plans said the prospect of armed police under the command of unelected Juncker patrolling our streets and arresting people with impunity was “frightening”.

They added that the plot, drawn up by bureaucrats at the European Political Strategy Centre (EPSC), was a further sign of how Britain’s sovereignty is being eroded by the Brussels project.

In its disturbing report the think-tank calls on European leaders to act “fast” and create an EU “Security Union” which would see an enormous transfer of powers from Westminster to Brussels.

Under the plans the EU’s own police force would take over responsibility for investigating and prosecuting terrorists in Britain, with the cases then tried by Euro officials in our courts.

Investigations would be carried out by a centralised European security agency, which would answer only to unelected bureaucrats but would have carte blanche to operate with impunity in the UK above the heads of our own law enforcement officials.

Disturbingly the proposal is believed to have a number of high-profile backers including Belgium’s government and Dimitris Avramopoulos, the EU’s all-powerful Home Affairs commissioner."

"order-order.com: Dave Says Turkey EU Membership “Not Remotely On The Cards”

It's not what Erdogan thinks:
TURKEY’S controversial visa deal is a major step in the country’s "strategic goal" of joining the European Union, leader Tayyip Erdogan declared.
"Erdogan's reaffirmation of Turkey's EU aspirations comes amid growing unease within the 28-nation bloc about what is viewed as the Turkish president's authoritarian style of leadership and his intolerance of media criticism."
Turkey’s STRATEGIC GOAL is to join the EU and visa deal is a major step, says Erdogan

You mean Erdogan is more arrogant than Jean-Claude Juncker and Martin Schulz!

May 9, 2016 at 10:17 PM | Registered CommenterRobert Christopher

Radical Rodent, would a European Police Force investigate crimes committed by the EU, or be used to investigate anyone daring to accuse the EU's elected/unelected Officials of crimes?

If past performance is anything to go by, the EU does not like to have it's own filthy washing done in public, and the EU will look to the USSR for inspiration.
