Donna's summary of the book has triggered me to buy a copy... (even though it's 6 years old) Events at Benghazi and the context of Libya's descent into chaos have some small personal relevance for me since I visited several times in 2009. I found Bengahzi quite civilised (beyond a single extremely nasty imam) and I was saddened by the bloody business later. Barack Obamah's March 2011 speech simply didn't align with my personal experience of Libya.

The blasphemous video thing was a transparent fib ... leveraging the truth of the Cairo disturbances. The waves of claims and counter claims I have largely ignored as they mostly emanate from known sh1t stirrers thousand of miles away from events.

As far as Libya is concerned I have never seen a reasonable explanation of what happened to Libya's 140 ton gold bullion reserves which apparently evaporated overnight.... all extremely murky and littered with some dead bankers

I have never been to Libya. I have known and worked with people who did, for work and generous salaries during the GoDaffy era. Their comments were stay at work or stay at home/secure compound. Don't venture out without a Government approved minder, and bribe him well, but discretely so that no one else knew. Do not question, do not challenge anything. I imagine it has got worse.

I was pleased that GoDaffy was sent in search of angelic virgins. For the sake of World Peace, it would have been cheaper to pay a hitman $100m for a clean kill, just as it would have been for Saddam Hussein following Gulf War 1.

Wealthy power vacuums will always attract greedy opportunists, and in Libya, this has included greedy terrorists and extremists too. Many Arab and Muslim states preferred GoDaffy. He was nuts, but didn't threaten them.

I understand why Saddam Hussein was not taken down after Gulf War 1, but back then, nobody expected what he would do next. What they probably feared was that Iraq would get worse without Saddam Hussein, which of course, it has.

fwiw - I felt safer out and about in Libya than Saudi Arabia - not really being a work<->compound sort. Benghazi was peaceful, the people polite and welcoming for the most part - the imported thugs there now are expendable and the biggest threat to us and the Libyans is the radicalisation that ensued / continues after the NATO campaign.

As can be seen in the released US State Department stuff - Sarkozy was out for bankers/oil/geopolitical kicks - the Libyan people not so much... Sid Blumenthal's missives to Hilary around that time (that survived BitBleach) make for an interesting read

It seems clear that Kamala is a follow the money sort of a gal with a clear appetite for the naff end of identity politics. I feel that a conviction politician like Tammy Duckworth (or Tulsi Gabbard) would've balanced the Democrat ticket - but the DNC nabobs want pliable candidates that can be led around - that said the DNC competition which Biden "won" was a really awful series of ghastly catwalk/gong shows promoting pointless dopes for the most part.

I see the official announcement seemed to require Joe to follow a script on a laptop - I wonder how soon it will be before Joe doesn't recognise Kamala wossername.

She will have been chosen for Biden. I am not surprised that she has opted to run for President during 2021, without 2 years of election campaigns, and will be hoping to choose a VP who won't steal her limelight, or drag her in to disrepute.

If she makes it that far, she will need to look outside of the Clinton/Obama part-drained swamp.

summary:

Make no mistake ... "postal voting" is what the DNC is betting the farm on - and busying itself with... sod the candidates..... the Democrat primaries season was a for the most part a parade of utter shit-shows.

It's a risky strategy and if it gets dismantled - the left will go nuts = not a good outcome.

If Biden only has one Muslim on his Team, how did he end up on it?

Make no mistake: US voter fraud is real. And utterly insignificant, it doesn't even nudge the needle.

Trump is just getting his excuses in early. Indeed his corruption is once again in clear view. A key plank of a democratic system is that anyone who needs a postal vote can get one - universal mail-in voting - even more so when people are self-isolating and social distancing, but this President is doing all he can to undermine this principle. In response to a Democratic proposal to improve access to vote-by-mail, same-day registration and early voting Trump said

They had things, levels of voting that if you’d ever agreed to it, you’d never have a Republican elected in this country again

More votes=fewer Republicans. Hmmmm. So how to reduce the levels of mail-in voting? Well start by appointing a member of Team Trump as head of the postal service, then refuse to sign off the extra funding needed to cover the expected surge in mail-in voting. Simples.

Now they need that money in order to make the post office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots. Now, if we don't make a deal, that means they don't get the money. That means they can't have universal mail-in voting, they just can't have it.

Mail votes have to arrive by election day to be counted, in the last election at least 65,000 ballots were discarded because they arrived late, often through no fault of the voter..

Rigged indeed.

postal voting and no ID to vote are both enthusiastically endorsed by Democrats. Republicans are also no strangers to rigged voting.

Fauci says voting in person is OK....

The reports of irregularities consequent from postal votes should be where we should be looking - not at some B team academic who's pontificating imho. Levitt's work on Gerrymandering is to be applauded but unless the miscreants are nailed there is little point ... I simply loved it when the ghastly Shirley Porter got nabbed.

People will always try to rig votes - it's happened forever and the ways to do it should be shut down at any opportunity. Plainly though, many of the folk tasked with overseeing elections are bent - just look at the UK's Electoral Commission!

In my view a postal vote should be an exception for a specified reason - end of.

Electoral fraud should be prosecuted aggressively with a default on conviction of incarceration.
