Discussion > President Trump
Well, quite AK. Classic misdirection. 4 people prosecuted for fraud (they are pleading not guilty, btw) and (nearly) 20% of votes discarded. Therefore the discarded votes must all be fraudulent right? Nope, the fraud prosecutions relate to a handful of ballots and the majority of rejected votes were due to mismatched signatures and other non-fraud issues.

You obviously expect this kind of thing from Trump, apparently post first, check facts never still applies hereabouts.
the (Dem) AG is prosecuting 4 people for fraud.
CNN can't bring themselves to mention that
Finger right on the pulse there. ;-)
tomo. I strongly support your stance on this. But wouldn’t you also support the view that the Prez should be engaged in measures to improve postal voting ( and drive-through voting) and help states that wish to encourage such measures, rather than campaign against such voting methods? Coronavirus is a good enough reason to discourage voting in voting booths. Wherever postal voting has been introduced, voter turnout has increased.
AK
Improving the engagement of voters is a positive thing I feel. I haven't had the time or inclination to trawl through the proposals in every US state - but a skim suggests that the measures cover a spectrum of actions to increase what I recall to be rather low %ages of actual voters compared to those eligible in the USA.
I look at Australia where if I understand it correctly you can be prosecuted for not voting?
As to booth voting, the esteemed Dr. Fauci says it's OK as I understand it....
Elections have always been abused and Jerrymandering is a common enough tactic to gain unfair advantage. The Electoral College can be construed as a giant piece of Jerrymandering. There are some tweaks to representative democracy that seem to work - Switzerland comes to mind....
On the partisan front / in my blinkered view the sudden enthusiasm for postal voting largely in DNC controlled areas is suspicious - the Google trends for Postal Voting from 2004 to now seems to show interest attenuating until just now.... when the DNC are looking at a totally naff candidate and a pissed off electorate.
If DJT is tinkering with the USPS then he deserves a slap - I rather suspect that that isn't the case as USPS is a legendary can of worms - but having suffered at the hands of the USPS several times I suspect that the tenured bureaucrats have a considerable capacity to f--k things up and create a disputed outcome and *that* would suit some people just fine.
The USPS spawned the term "going postal" - I sincerely hope that term doesn't figure in the upcoming election.
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Postal Service is warning states coast to coast that it cannot guarantee all ballots cast by mail for the November election will arrive in time to be counted, even if mailed by state deadlines, raising the possibility that millions of voters could be disenfranchised.Voters and lawmakers in several states are also complaining that some curbside mail collection boxes are being removed.
Even as President Donald Trump rails against wide-scale voting by mail, the post office is bracing for an unprecedented number of mail-in ballots as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The warning letters sent to states raise the possibility that many Americans eligible for mail-in ballots this fall will not have them counted.
The letter went to 46 states. Yes that's nearly all of them.
Nothing to do with the deactivation of sorting machines.. Oh no. Nothing to see here.

Excellent, but so has electoral/voter fraud.
In the UK (I suspect similar elsewhere) Local Authorities became very keen on Postal Ballots in the run up to the Disability Discrimination Act kicking in. Polling Stations, their carparks, paths, steps, doorways etc, plus the individual booths, had to be accessible for the disabled.
Local Authorities were struggling to find the money for the buildings they owned. They did not own many village halls and other buildings they delivered their service from - Polling Stations. It was cheaper and simpler to support going postal, to deliver the service. This benefitted all those unable to vote previously, and those that struggled with the complexity of voting

well, that isn't a good look in my opinion.
As an invitation to tamper with the ballot it's top drawer.
Appalling
Then there's this
extraordinarily low watching numbers on YouTube for the online DNC circus.
The numbers might have changed since the tweeted screen cap - but still - it's nothing to crow about for Republicans - if Biden / DNC voter engagement is that low, one can be confident it'll trigger ever more desperate antics from the campaign / activists ... >> and that isn't good.
elsewhere 846 dead people mailed in ballots in Michigan
Nope. 846 people died after they mailed in their vote but before election day; the votes rightly picked up and discarded. Same thing happened to 1708 people in 2016. This is the system working as it should.
Post first, check facts later never.

I see that - and have to suck it up and say I got it wrong. Thanks for your fact checking.
I do find it slightly odd though that a couple of sentences weren't added to indicate the overall number of voters, the time window and the percentages impact on the outcome and how the dead 'uns were ID'd
In other places voter rolls have been cluttered with ineligible voters.
A trivial scan for resources on the matter turns up Heritage.org - would that pass the Clarky sniff test?
extraordinarily low watching numbers on YouTube for the online DNC circus.
Wrong metric. Many (most?) eople will have watched it live. Of those who chose to stream it on YouTube, most went to news orgs' YouTube channels rather than the official feed. The two most popular were the MSNBC and NBC News channels, clocking up 643K views between them for the full speech and highlights respectively.
It was also available direct from the NPR and CNN websites (and probably others) but they don't show a viewcount.

So the Heritage Foundation identified fewer than 1300 verified cases of voter fraud since 1982? Just 13 so far this year.
Given that in 2016, Clinton received 65.8 million and Trump 62.9 million votes, I think my characterisations of voter fraud as 'rare' and 'not budging the needle' are vindicated by this.
PS Michelle Obama's keynote speech has now racked up over half a million views on NBC's Youtube channel alone and the V-O-T-E necklace she wore has gone viral.

As a believer in Mann's Hockey Stick, you are perfectly happy with false statistics, voter fraud, fake consensus, dodgy dossiers and use of the FBI to incarcerate innocent people. Were Mr and Mrs Obama always so enthusiastic about it? Can Climate Science survive without corruption?

This looks like there may be trouble ahead for liars and conspiratorial Democrat White House occupants. (No interns with smeared dresses this time unless Ghislaine Maxwell coughs up something)

*"Clinesmith actually worked on Robert Mueller’s team. He was tasked from the bureau to work with that team, which then submitted his falsified document to the FISA court. That’s crucially important. If attorneys on the special counsel team knew about his crime and did nothing to inform the court, if they continued to use a document they knew was fraudulent, they will face charges. That would implicate Mueller’s team for the first time in illegal activity to undermine the Trump presidency. "
*" That’s a much bigger matter than writing a biased report.Real trouble looms for anybody on the Mueller team or elsewhere at the DoJ and FBI who knew that Clinesmith had altered the CIA email to change its meaning. There’s even worse trouble ahead for those who ordered him to commit a crime. To prove those charges, Durham needs documents or multiple eyewitnesses. Clinesmith can point prosecutors in the right direction, but his word alone won’t do."

Is this the Democrats cunning plan?
Set America on fire with riots
Blame Trump, sack the police, employ drug dealers as Law Enforcement
Try to replace Trump with Biden
Knife Biden in the back, promote VP Kamala to POTUS
Wrangle Michelle O in as VP
Knife Kamala, promote Michelle, Barak Obama gets to be POTUS in everything but title
Michelle didn't mention Harris - not a single time.
why might that be?
- a "live" event that has been recorded and edited over several weeks - just maybe?
Honestly
I didn't check who who perpetrated the NJ fraud - and I don't care.
Any attack on the ballots is unacceptable and if anything should be bipartisan it's obviously the integrity of the ballot
