LOL

- why not?

War & Peace is about 1,215 pgs & takes an avg reader 38hrs & 46min to complete.

This $900B COVID “relief” bill that Congress folk had less than 24hrs to read is 5,593 pgs.

So, equivalent to reading War & Peace almost 5x.

How many words are in a page? Lewis Carroll wrote a chapter containing a single word: a world record wpp at the time.

Why haven't the MSM trooped off to interview the Dalai Llama about his inclusion in the bill.

See for yourself on page 5097 onwards - there's 130 mentions of Tibet and the Dalai Llama gets mentioned 27 times - - the bit about hold a reverse séance to elicit his successors opinions on how the funds should be disbursed is a stand-out.

I hope we never find life on other planets because there's no doubt that the U.S. Government will start sending them money!

Tax breaks for business lunches seems just a little tone deaf when millions are struggling to put food on the table.

I think Team Trump probably will lose this one

If video or audio of Eric Coomer of Dominion Voting Systems shooting his mouth off hasn't been out on view - it doesn't exist = game over....

Dec 24, 2020 at 2:50 PM | Registered Commentertomo

Yeah.... sure - an executive of a voting software company in discussions with a bunch of loopy radicals ... - should he even be there (and parading his bias) ? - I would say no - no effin way.

Dec 14, 2020 at 6:47 PM | tomo

Coomer said that all of the allegations against him are completely false

Law and Crime

The only evidence that Coomer ever participated in an Antifa conference call is hearsay from businessman Joseph Oltmann, a Trump fanboi.

It keeps happening ;-) All the while accusing others of being shallow. Funny that.

Dec 24, 2020 at 11:02 PM | Unregistered CommenterPhil Clarke

Clarky - let's see where it goes .... after all, one would hardly under the circumstances expect Mr Coomer to double down eh?

- I wonder if Coomer is subject to discovery? - doubtless David Freiheit will deliver blow by blow commentary

If there's nothing in it - that'll come out.

Mr Coomer to cash out and buy a Caribbean Island then.

Dec 26, 2020 at 1:42 AM | Registered Commentertomo

- Dan Abrams is not a million miles away from Jim Hoft....

As Freiheit has pointed out much of the criticisms aimed at the voting automation companies is loaded with emotive language which actually hides substantive points that would be better delivered unvarnished.

Doubtless more smoke and sparks will ensue.

Discovery will be pivotal if records of the interactions with AntiFa can't be found outside The Utah Data Centre.

So the FBI can solve the Nashville bombing in under a day, but give them Hunter's laptop, Hillary's emails, Epstein's black book, and proof of play for pay in Ukraine, years later they don't even know they have it?

Doubtless more smoke and sparks will ensue.

Nah, as the call never happened the suit it will be quietly settled. They've achieved the effect they wanted. If there was audio we would have heard it by now and there is no other corroboration. The claim originates from Joe Oltmann, a Trump superfan who has been permanently banned from Twitter for repeatedly violating their Civic Integrity Policy.

Coomer has been smeared by Gateway Pundit and others leading to him being harrassed and doxed.

He is now suing those media outlets and could not be more clear:

All claims that someone recorded me on a call, or even overheard me saying, “Don’t worry about the election, Trump’s not gonna win. I made (expletive) sure of that!” are wholly fabricated. Moreover, I do not have the capability to do such a thing. I have not written a single line of code in the Dominion Voting Systems product.

File under: conformation bias. Keeps happening.

Clarky

in terms of recent political defamation suits in the USA one has to figure that discovery is a large part of the recipe... The Covington kids thing is leaving a trail of emptied bank accounts largely it would seem due to an unwillingness to proceed with disclosure. Of course, if one followed those who'd paid up - nothing happened :-)

I haven't looked to see which platform the purported conversation occurred on but the singular event claimed is also claimed to be part of a pattern... It's also possible that the conversation / postings claimed by Comer's adversaries were done under his name by people seeking to smear him ...

I'm with you on the production of the audio and now wouldn't be surprised to discover it's an empty smear - and liars have to double down to protect the original fib.

That said - the quote " I have not written a single line of code in the Dominion Voting Systems product." seems wholly unnecessary as "coding" patently isn't necessary to tinker with the results - configuration and file substitution being seemingly wide open in some cases - which completely negates the need to code anything! The architecture and security (both electronic and physical) of the Dominion systems looking decidedly ropey - reading the Dominion documentation I've been struck by the lack of emphasis on detailed logging - a key IT security tool.

Dec 29, 2020 at 2:13 PM | Registered Commentertomo

Well, kudos for conceding that you repeated an empty smear without checking first.

From the lawsuit

Oltmann claimed to have infiltrated a conference call with such Antifa activists. Oltmann claimed on this call he purportedly heard someone identified as “Eric from Dominion,” and that this “Eric” stated he would ensure the election went to President-Elect Biden. Oltmann provided no explanation for how he learned of this purported call or gained access to it. Oltmann acknowledged he has no recording of it and indicated he had no knowledge of the participants he referenced within it. Rather, Oltmann’s dubious claims are premised on one unverified speaker referring to another. With no legitimate attempt to confirm the identity of these alleged speakers, Oltmann attributed their alleged statements to Dr. Coomer. With no additional evidence, Oltmann then used these statements to falsely assert that Dr. Coomer subverted the results of the election. Defendants seized on and perpetuated these false allegations to further their own interests.

To be clear, Dr. Coomer has no knowledge of an alleged “Antifa Conference Call;” Dr. Coomer did not participate in such an alleged call; Dr. Coomer did not make the comments Defendants falsely attribute to him; and Dr. Coomer did not take actions to subvert the presidential election as Defendants falsely allege.

Despite the inherent unreliability of these claims, Defendants widely disseminated this false narrative. As intended, Defendants’ fabrication quickly spread throughout various media sources. Within days, the hashtags #EricCoomer, #ExposeEricCoomer, and #ArrestEricCoomer were trending on social media. The President began publishing numerous false statements to his millions of followers alleging Dominion interfered with the election; the President’s son and campaign surrogate, Eric Trump, tweeted a photo of Dr. Coomer alongside this false claim; and the President’s Campaign lawyers identified Dr. Coomer in a nationally televised press conference where they described him as a “vicious, vicious man” who “is close to Antifa” and falsely claimed that Dr. Coomer “specifically says that they’re going to fix this 5 election” and that he “had the election rigged for Mr. Biden.” With such attention, Defendants have escalated denigrations of Dr. Coomer, furthered dissemination of these false statements, and encouraged threats and violence against Dr. Coomer.

Coomer's life has been completely upended, as have the lives of people close to him. Not sure how discovery is relevant; the websites who amplified and broadcast the claims against him did so with no hard evidence. IANAL but that seems to me a black and white example of reckless endangerment. As Coomer is a private individual the bar is lower than if they had libelled a corporation or public figure.

In his place I would be demanding a full apology and retraction, and a substantial sum. (*Cough* Gawker.)

Dec 29, 2020 at 3:18 PM | Unregistered CommenterPhil Clarke

Discovery is central - you whinge about TL-DR with Barnes and Viva Frei - I suggest that instead of focussing on your preferred outcome you look at the route that has to be taken and the assortment of deep pits that litter that road.... Plenty of suits (most) fail before the central claims are tested.

Gawker it might be ... I feel that if Coomer has *any* association with AntiFa >> he's toast. A sworn deposition denying any and all association with AntiFa is likely what his adversaries are aiming at.....

I don't feel any sympathy for anybody at Dominion - they know their system is shonky and they do f-all as far as I can see to impose rigorous operational constraints on the end users and improve their logging- which is something they could easily do - although we always have Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

The voter tallying Pennsylvania looks dodgy ... typo or something more malign?

Dec 29, 2020 at 5:30 PM | Registered Commentertomo

I feel that if Coomer has *any* association with AntiFa >> he's toast.

There goes the First Amendment. Clearly he has no such affiliation, he would hardly say so in a legal deposition if there was any dirt (para 88.).

Remembering that Joseph Oltmann is the only source of the claim that Coomer was on an Antifa conference call joking about fixing the election, questions I would like answered in discovery would include:

Why did Oltmann not record the call? Easy to do and perfectly legal.

Why can he not recall when it happened?

How did he know the voices on the call were actually Antifa activists?

How did he know 'Eric' was Eric Coomer? (Answer: he Googled 'Eric' and 'Dominion')

Why did he not bring it to anyone's attention until after Trumps' election defeat?

Why did he (and the other defendents) not contact Coomer before spreading their defamatory claims?

All very odd. If anyone is thinking Coomer doth protest too much, here's the kind of thing Oltmann was spreading, in this case on Parler:

Eric Coomer, you are a traitor,We are coming for you and your shitbag company. We are coming for Antifa and we are coming for your politician friends. Share this…share Eric's name…If they certify the electors today after this audit, we have an obligation to forcibly remove them all. This is not a drill, our country is not their evil playground. God is at the wheel, but we are the warriors that must do the work of men to repel evil. These people are evil, and they are liars, cheats and thieves out to take what they did not earn or deserve. Where will you stand?

Now it's time we fight, And when I [say] fight I don't mean yelling it's not fair. I mean we fight these communist, marxist lying shitbags. That means Eric Coomer never has peace and we smash each and every voting machine in every state that uses them. We will not be silenced by a bunch of BLM and Antifa communist asshats. It's time we take back our America by any and all means necessary."

Another quality impartial source, then. Coomer is not the only one resorting to law and some people are getting a bit antsy..

The Daily Kos ?

There goes the First Amendment? how might that work ?

So why aren't MSM harassing the obviously evil Oltmann target and platforming the injured and pure Mr. Coomer ?

Could it be that both of them are addled partisans ?

If the screen grabs being bandied about are actually from Coomer's actual Facebook page - he's done... If they're fakes then Gawkerville awaits.

I see that chain of custody for hundreds of thousands of GA absentee ballots looks to be invalid.

Neither. How many times? There was no significant fraud or irregularities.

No link. Presumably you are referring to the report by Rep. Frank Ryan, inevitably tweeted by Trump. The dumbasses were looking at a database that has yet to receive the votes from Philadelphia, Allegheny, Butler and Cambria, so of course it is short.

In an election that has processed 143 million votes there are bound to be some glitches, cockups, communication breakdowns and so on. If you need to brand these as fraud to make your case, you have no case. Biden has attracted 4 million more votes than his opponent. A handful of illegal votes getting through is utterly irrelevant. He will likely end up with 290-310 electoral college votes, no amount of recounts, vexatious lawsuits or baseless fraud allegations is going to make a dent in that margin.
